Lorient v Reims
🏟
Saturday 15th October – 4:00PM KO
Lorient have been one of the surprise packages in Ligue 1 this season and have the incentive of going top of the standings if they can overcome Reims on Saturday. The home side come into this match off the back of six-straight victories and will play an opponent that has won just a single game this season.
The backbone of Lorient’s superb start to the campaign has been their home form. They have won four from four in front of their home supporters, including matches against Clermont, Lyon, Nantes and Lille. All of these rivals are of a similar or better standard to the one that they will face on Saturday.
Furthermore, the home side will be boosted by the return of Dango Ouattara to their attack. He has four goals and five assists in his last six Ligue 1 matches, while Lorient also have the in-form Terem Moffi to call upon, with the Nigerian the joint leading marksman in the league.
Reims, meanwhile, sacked manager Oscar Garcia on Thursday in a somewhat surprising move. They have performed a little better than results suggest so far this season and picked up a 0-0 draw against PSG last weekend, in which they were value for their point. A lack of efficiency at both ends of the field has been problematic for Reims, while jettisoning their manager at this point in the season may do them as much harm as good in the short term with the turbulence it can cause.
Lorient are well priced at 2.25 to win the game, but the threat of Reims taking a point means the value is on a Draw No Bet strategy here.
