Following relegation from the top-flight last season, Halmstad were always one of the pre-season favourites for promotion back at the first attempt. The home team come into this on the back of seven wins in their opening nine matches as they sit at the top-of-the-table; however, they have since stumbled and have now lost two and drawn one of their last four matches.
Their most recent outing was a 2-1 defeat away to in-form Landskrona last weekend, which kept up their goal scoring habit. They have scored in every Superettan game so far this season and have averaged two goals per game, which is only bettered by two teams.
They have scored just one more goal, though, than their upcoming opponents, Utsiktens. The visitors come into this in fine form and their 1-1 draw at home to Osters last week extended their unbeaten run of form to seven matches as they begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third in the table.
With four wins and two defeats at home for Halmstad and four wins and two defeats on the road for Utsiktens, it is clear that these are two very evenly matched sides and, with both going for promotion at the top end of the table, it could be quite a cagey match.
Given that, as well as the fact that only two teams have conceded fewer goals than the visitors this season – and one of those teams is the hosts, Halmstad – this one is unlikely to produce too many clear-cut chances.
