Under 2.5 Goals

📈 Odds: 1.53

The data across the last decade of play-off finals is quite damning in terms of goals.

Only once in the last 12 finals has there been a play-off final that has seen three or more goals in 90 minutes, this was the Aston Villa v Derby final in 2019. Only Villa, Brentford (2021), and Norwich (2015) have scored twice in play-off finals in the last 12 years.

This is a 3rd v 4th play-off final, so, the two best play-off teams over the course of the regular season are meeting. This often leads to very tight matches, seven of the last 12 finals have been between 3rd and 4th, and none of them have reached three goals in 90 minutes.

Matches between the two have also been very close, though three of the last five have been 2-1, it is clear that there is very little between the two sides, and adding in the pressure of the play-off final means that the price available on under 2.5 goals looks quite generous.

Sydie Peck - Over 0.5 Shots ↔️

📈 Odds: 1.33

One player who looks very likely to try and break the deadlock is Sydie Peck. Peck has taken the highest number of shots for Sheffield United over their last 10 matches, and has clearly been given more licence to support the forward players, especially when Hamza Choudhury is in the team alongside Vini Souza.

Peck now averages 1.28 shots per 90 in the Championship when taking in the whole season, but this shoots up to a massive 2.87 shots per 90 when taking in Sheffield United’s last 10 matches.

This includes taking at least one shot in each play-off semi-final leg, and indeed, Peck has taken at least one shot in each of his last 10 starts, including four shots in four of those matches.

Trai Hume - Over 0.5 Fouls Committed ↔️

📈 Odds: 1.36

Hume is an ever present when fit, or not suspended, for Sunderland, and is a regular to hearing the referee’s whistle during the 90 minutes as well.

Hume has committed at least one foul in both play-off semi-final legs and, indeed, in 22 of his last 24 starts, so this is an exceptionally regular occurrence in Sunderland matches.

With the added tension of the play-off final, and against a tricky pairing in Gustavo Hamer and Harrison Burrows, Hume feels like a great choice for a bet builder from a fouls perspective.

Level 2 Bet Builder Tip

Sheffield United Most Corners

📈 Odds: 1.83

This is partially influenced by the expected tactical approach from both sides ahead of the final. It is likely that Sunderland will try and use a version of their successful play-off semi-final tactics and allow Sheffield United to come onto them to use the duo of Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda on the break.

These tactics led to Coventry dominating the corner count across the semi-finals, winning the first leg 9-5 and the second leg at the Stadium of Light 7-3. Ironically, of course, it was a Sunderland corner that decided the tie.

Sheffield United also won the corner count in both legs of their semi-final against Bristol City, helped by a red card in the first leg, but they had no need to push forward in the second leg and still managed to win more corners.

Kieffer Moore - Over 1.5 Shots ↔️

📈 Odds: 1.53

Moore has come back into the starting XI at exactly the right time for the Blades.

He has taken 16 shots in four shots since returning from injury, and this makes for an average of 4.24 shots per 90 in Sheffield United’s last 10 matches.

Moore has re-established himself at the top of the queue for United’s main attacking outlet and can play his action-packed game knowing that there are reserves there for him. He has hit this line in all of his recent starts, including the two play-off semi-final legs, and is obviously a target for set pieces as well as crosses in open play.

If he is replaced, then his Sub On Play On potential replacements are Tom Cannon, though he may start alongside Moore, or perhaps Tyrese Campbell or even Rhian Brewster.

Trai Hume - Over 0.5 Shots ↔️

📈 Odds: 1.80

Hume’s shooting has continued to be underrated by the market ahead of the play-off final.

The full back has been involved in some of Sunderland’s direct free kick taking, which obviously helps his chances of getting a shot away, but he has also popped up in both open play and from indirect set pieces as well.

In total, Hume has averaged 0.74 shots per 90 in the Championship this season, which is already a decent average for his price here. However, this figure has doubled in the last 10 matches up to 1.43 shots per 90, this includes two shots in each of the play-off semi-finals as well.
