England U21 look to extend their perfect record during qualifying, having won all four of their matches so far without conceding a goal.

They take on a Slovakia side that sit above them in the qualifying table, having played a game more than the young Three Lions - but are undefeated across their five matches.

Over 2.5 Goals

Slovakia’s matches during qualifying so far have been entertaining, with their five games producing 17 goals (3.4 per game). Four of those games have seen 3+ goals, which makes for good reading ahead of this clash against an England U21 side that are seen as favourites to top the group.

Slovakia currently sit at the summit of the group having won four of their five matches, though they have played one game more than Lee Carsley’s side, who have recent experience when it comes to delivering in pressure situation,s with the U21s winning the most recent U21 European Championship, which took place over the summer in Slovakia.

England have scored nine goals across their four matches without reply (2.25 per game). They haven’t really had to break sweat so far with comfortable victories over Ireland, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Andorra.

England U21 to Win

England tend to be dominant in qualifiers and have started this campaign in a similar fashion with four wins from their four matches, without even conceding a goal. Lee Carsley’s side won the European Championship over the summer, a tournament which was hosted in Slovakia, and have a squad which is far above the level of the U21 international circuit.

This squad includes Premier League regulars like Tyrique George, Jamie Gittens, Rico Lewis and Archie Gray, as examples of the quality that exists within the squad. Lee Carsley is also very experienced at this level and has had great success, with England being crowned back-to-back winners of the U21 European Championship with Carsley at the helm.

During England’s last qualifying campaign for the European Championship, they won eight of their 10 matches, with their only defeat coming on the road.

📈 Slovakia U21 v England U21 Form & Stats

England U21 are a real success story of the overall England project, with Lee Carsley’s outfit being crowned back-to-back winners of the U21 European Championship. The development of the U21 coincides with the FA wanting to put together a clear pathway for England’s young talent, and it’s working really well at the youth levels - but is yet to translate to the senior team.

Players like Anthony Gordon, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton, Alex Scott, Morgan Rogers, Elliot Anderson and Phil Foden in the current squad have all come through this pathway, showing how effective it is at getting young, talented English players ready for the international stage. The current U21 squad is also stacked with plenty of talent, with Tyrique George and Ethan Nwaneri the current standouts from this crop of players, which is tipped to be even more talented than the iterations that have come before it.

Slovakia have started strongly in this qualifying group after what was a disappointing campaign in the European Championship over the summer, as they failed to get out of the group as the host nation. They’ve won four of their five qualifying matches so far, netting 12 goals across those games. It’s clear that Slovakia will be a force in this group, but they are likely to be chasing England throughout, with Carsley’s side expected to top the group comfortably.
