Laporte is a real threat from set pieces for Spain and has had two shots at the World Cup so far, both coming in Spain’s 0-0 draw with Cape Verde in their opening game of the tournament.
That display showcased the two avenues through which Laporte could get a shot away here. He had one effort from a corner, which was on target, and also took a more speculative effort from outside of the box which flew well over the bar.
He took two shots across his three starts for Spain during qualifying, with these efforts mirroring those he had against Cape Verde - one from outside the box and one headed shot on target. It’s clear that Spain look for Laporte from these situations as their main corner threat and I think he’ll get chances against an Austria side that are yet to keep a clean sheet at the World Cup.
Laporte had 15 shots across his 24 starts during the 25/26 season in LaLiga (0.66 per 90), and also averaged 1.11 shots per 90 across his 18 starts in the Saudi Pro League the season prior - scoring four goals in the process.
This is a nice price for Laporte to have a single shot in this clash, he’s as short as 1.33 with other leading bookmakers to have a shot and his willingness to take on speculative efforts aids our chances alongside his usual threat from set pieces.
