RB Leipzig v Eintracht Frankfurt
🏟
Sunday 20th March – 2:30PM KO
Domenico Tedesco was very diplomatic with his answers in Friday’s press conference when he was asked about Sunday’s Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt. Well aware of the fact that his side had been given a bye to the next round of the Europa League and their coming foes had needed extra time to get by Betis, Tedesco pointed out that his opposite number Oliver Glasner would need to make a number of changes on Sunday. Which, apparently, made things extra difficult for him.
Despite the Leipzig head coach’s remarks, it seems more than likely that Frankfurt will still be relying on the crosses of Filip Kostic down the left flank, the runs of Jesper Lindstrom or Daichi Kamada and the goals of Rafael Borre. Only three teams have scored more goals on the road this season than Frankfurt, and they’ll be keen to continue that trend on Sunday.
However, standing in their way will be a well-rested and in-form RB Leipzig side that are riding high on a eight-game unbeaten run as well as just one defeat from their last nine home games, in which they’ve scored 20 goals.
There’s no doubt that RB Leipzig will fancy their chances in this game, but a goalfest between both sides seems far more likely.

Wolfsburg v Bayer Leverkusen
🏟
Sunday 20th March – 4:30PM KO
There’s little doubt that the air has come out of Bayer Leverkusen’s over the course of the past few months, as poor performances and unfortunate injuries have brought Gerardo Seoane’s side to an immediate halt.
A hard-fought 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich a few weeks ago showed a Leverkusen side with character, but in truth it seemed to seep most of their energy from then. They then lost 3-2 to Atalanta in Italy, suffered a crushing derby defeat to Koln in the Bundesliga then lost 1-0 at home in the second leg against their Italian foes after putting on a tepid, defensive display.
Indeed, the swashbuckling Leverkusen team of just a month ago have now been declawed due to injuries to star playmaker Florian Wirtz and right wing-back Jeremie Frimpong, alongside talisman and targetman Patrik Schick.
All of which should undoubtedly be music to the ears of Wolfsburg head coach Florian Kohfeldt, whose team do look back in contention after their own miserable run of form and bad injuries in December and January.
While the Wolves have only picked up two wins from their last five games, that disguises the fact that they very nearly took a point off high-flying Freiburg last week if not for a winning goal in the 87th minute and gave an equally impressive Hoffenheim side a bloody nose a few weeks prior to that in a 2-1 defeat.
Wolfsburg certainly look in the ascendancy and Leverkusen seem desperate to just draw a line under this season as quickly as possible, so a home win with a hint of caution seems like the smartest bet here.

FC Koln v Borussia Dortmund
🏟
Sunday 20th March – 6:30PM KO
Like the antagonist in a Hollywood movie, Borussia Dortmund seemingly needed to hit rock bottom before they could climb to their feet and begin doing the basics correctly. Without Erling Haaland, Marco Reus or Mats Hummels, the Westfalen team have scraped by Arminia Bielefeld and then Mainz with simple, defensive football. And head coach Marco Rose couldn’t be happier.
“We have completely brought the basics onto the pitch. We have played better football…” announced the Dortmund tactician, who knows another dull but effective performance will be needed to overcome a Koln side that stands between them and the tantalising prospect of a genuine title race with Bayern in the final stretch of the season.
While Reus may still be a doubt for the game, Dortmund should be able to welcome back Hummels and Haaland to a starting role, while Koln will have their own injury concerns to deal with, most notable of which being club captain Jonas Hector, who remains the club’s most potent playmaker in the league this season.
With just three wins from their last eight games, Koln will likely prove to be a nervous host against a Dortmund team that should be able to rely upon the momentum of recent results and the returning talent of their star players.
