AFC Eskilstuna v Norrby
🏟
Thursday 19th May – 6:00PM KO
This is a clash between two sides that have very different tactical philosophies and approaches. AFC Eskilstuna are the Superettan top scorers with 19, ahead of this midweek’s round of action, whilst Norrby have managed a measly four goals in seven games so far this season.
The home team, under the management of Jawad Al Jebouri, will be expected to greatly improve upon their recent seasons. Since being relegated from the top-flight in 2019, they have ‘suffered’ back-to-back ninth-placed finishes and AFC will be aiming higher than mid-table mediocrity this time around.
Norrby narrowly missed out on promotion last season, finishing fourth in the second-tier. Former Lebanon international Mak Lind is into his sixth season as manager of the club who have played just one season of top-flight football – all the way back in 1955/56.
AFC have started their 2022 campaign with five victories and two defeats in their opening seven matches. However, those two losses have come in their last three matches as they have fallen behind Brage and Halmstad at the top-of-the-table. Norrby have also dropped off – but more so than their opposition. The visitors won their opening two matches of the campaign before three defeats and two draws in their last five matches.
According to the underlying data, both of these teams have had beginnings to the season that their performances have not reflected. AFC Eskilstuna’s overall expected goals is below one, whilst Norrby have been expected to score 1.25 per away game.
Given that Norrby have scored just four goals so far this season, the odds will be favourable to a goals-focused bet – and the underlying data suggests a goals-focused bet could well be on the cards.

Brommapojkarna v Ostersund
🏟
Thursday 19th May – 6:00PM KO
Neither of these two sides will be overwhelmingly pleased with how their season has started. Brommapojkarna will be the happier with just one defeat since the opening day of the season. In contrast, Ostersunds, following relegation last season, have suffered three successive defeats prior to this encounter and they have won just one game so far this season.
Brommapojkarna have been very entertaining of late, though, if a bit inconsistent. Their 3-3 draw away to Landskrona at the weekend means that all seven of their matches have seen both teams scoring. There has been 31 goals scored, combined, in those seven games, too.
Ostersund have had lots of financial issues over the last couple of years and their rapid rise to the top has been undermined by a slow and painful slide back down the Swedish pyramid with the inevitability of falling further than just the bottom-half of the second-tier becoming more evident.
Felix Horeberg, who is a key man for a depleted and weakened Ostersund, may be playing within himself ahead of this match as he is already at risk of suspension after picking up yet another yellow card in their defeat to top-of-the-table Brage.
The underlying data, actual results and actual performances suggest that Brommapojkarna, under the management of the much-lauded and fan favourite Christer Mattiasson, should win this one quite comfortably.
