Derby County are unbeaten in eight matches in League One and are starting to look like the most reliable side in the division outside of the high-flying top three of Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday.

David McGoldrick bagged a hat-trick in their 4-0 win over Forest Green Rovers last weekend and the Rams are a juicy 2/1 to win at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday. The Trotters have been very reliant on late goals to keep them afloat inside the top six in the last couple of months, they got the better of Exeter City to a 2-0 scoreline last time out but are still looking unconvincing in aiming to cement a top six berth.

Derby’s defensive personnel are poor, something that may change in the January transfer window, but Paul Warne has been able to shore them up very impressively. Warne will have had experience locking horns with Ian Evatt from his time at Rotherham United and they are playing well enough at the moment to avoid defeat again.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Conor Hourihane are more than capable of producing game-deciding moments and will be spurred by big match feel to the encounter at The UniBol. It must be a very long time since these two last faced off in the third tier.
