UFC 310 takes place this Sunday morning at the UFC’s surrogate home at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The UFC Flyweight Championship is on the line in the main event, as champion Alexandre Pantoja looks to make the third defense of his belt against organisation newcomer Kai Asakura. Elsewhere, two undefeated fighters face off in a UFC Welterweight title eliminator, as Kazakhtan’s Shavkat Rakhmonov takes on Ireland’s Ian Machado Garry.
It’s why we’ve found some good value in the MMA tips & best bets below:
- Alexandre Pantoja to Win (1.40)
- Ian Machado Garry to Win (3.75)
- Over 2.5 Rounds in Ciryl Gane v Alexander Volkov
- Movsar Evloev by Decision/Tec Decision (1.73)
Alexandre Pantoja (C) v Kai Asakura – UFC Flyweight Championship
👊🏻 Alexandre Pantoja to Win (1.40)
- Organization newcomer Kai Asakura looks to make a statement as he challenges for the flyweight belt in his debut bout against reigning champion Alexandre Pantoja.
- Pantoja is looking to make it three title defenses on the bounce.
- The Brazilian is priced as the heavy favourite for this one, owing to Asakura being somewhat of an unknown entity for casual fans since arriving from Rizin Fighting Federation.
- With a 21-4 record, Asakura is not a name to be snuffed at, however, he does hold losses against current UFC flyweight Manel Kape, and former UFC title challenger Kyoji Horiguchi.
- Expect Pantoja to draw this fight out and rely on his stellar cardio to get the job done and at odds of 1.40 for him to win on the nose, we’re backing him to make it a hat-trick of title defenses.
Shavkat Rakhmonov (#3) v Ian Machado Garry (#7) – Welterweight
👊🏻 Ian Machado Garry to Win (3.75)
- Somebody’s 0 has got to go, as two undefeated welterweights square off in the co-main event.
- Kazakhstan’s Shavkat Rakhmonov is the overwhelming favourite, and when you consider he is 18-0 with 18 finishes, this makes sense.
- However, bookmakers have really been generous with their pricing of Irishman Machado Garry for this one at 3.75 just to win.
- Machado Garry himself is also undefeated at 15-0, and proved in his dominant decision win over Michael ‘Venom’ Page he has the ability to derail a hype train and relish in playing the ‘heel’ to us watching at home.
- With this being a 5-rounder, Garry has to weather the early storm and take Shavkhat deep into uncharted waters.
- If Garry brings this to the third round, the price of 3.75 for him to win will look even more appealing and even more likely.
Ciryl Gane (#2) v Alexander Volkov (#3) – Heavyweight
👊🏻 Over 2.5 Rounds (1.33)
- Two big boys at heavyweight clash in a top-5 battle here in Las Vegas.
- Frenchman Ciryl Gane will look to build back up the hype that saw many tip him as a legitimate threat amongst heavyweights.
- However his title fight performance against Jon Jones really left a lot to be desired, and he now faces a resurgent Alexander Volkov who has quietly put together quite an impressive run in recent years.
- The 6’7” Russian is currently riding a four-fight win streak, including a hugely impressive win against compatriot Sergei Pavlovich back in June.
- Gane himself looked impressive in his last bout against Sergei Spivac, but Volkov is by far the more experienced fighter.
- Seeing a stoppage here has potential, but we’ll look at the over 2.5 rounds line at odds of 1.33 as a realistic punt.
- Volkov will want to wear Gane down and take this fight the distance as he did against Pavlovich, and the Russian could very well play himself into the conversation for a potential matchup with Tom Aspinall should his proposed mega-fight with Jon Jones not materialize.
Movsar Evloev (#5) v Aljamain Sterling (#9) – Featherweight
👊🏻 Movsar Evloev by Decision/Tec Decision (1.73)
- Former Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling looks to continue his impressive start at 145lbs as he takes on undefeated Russian Movsar Evloev.
- Sterling looked right at home in this new weight division when he made his featherweight debut against Calvin Kattar at UFC 300, but Evloev looks simply unbeatable at the moment.
- Evloev is riding an 8-fight win streak in the UFC, all of which have come by way of the judges’ scorecards.
- England’s Arnold Allen was last to feel the wrestling dominance of Evloev, as the Russian sailed to a unanimous decision victory at UFC 297.
- Sterling looks like he can cause a raucous at 145lbs, but Evloev seems like an unwise fight to take on so early in his run.
- Evloev is 1.40 to win on the nose, but given his perchance for taking fights the distance, the odds of him winning via a decision at 1.73 seem a lot more appealing.
