Fulham have been a difficult side to predict this season, sitting mid table in the Premier League standings with a record of 12 wins, four draws and 12 losses. Marco Silva’s side have been more attack-minded in their home fixtures, scoring 24 goals in their 14 league matches, but that approach has sometimes left them exposed at the back, with 17 goals conceded. BTTS has landed in eight of their last nine matches in all competitions, which shows how chances tend to be available at both ends of the field. 

West Ham are doing much worse in terms of league position, but performances have improved since the new year. They were beaten 5-2 by Liverpool last weekend, but the match wasn’t as one-sided as the scoreline suggests, as the Hammers generated 1.84 xG from 11 shots. Prior to that, they had lost just one of their last eight in all competitions, with BTTS landing in five of those games.

The Hammers have posed more of a threat in the final third since January, and they will have hopes of survival if that continues. However, they will have to sort out their issues at the back, as West Ham have struggled to limit chances for opponents, particularly from wide areas. They conceded 10 corners against Liverpool last time out, and their opponents are averaging 6.29 corners per game in the league this season. That figure rises to 7.14 when playing away.

Fulham have not been much better, and they are conceding 5.35 corners per game on average across all competitions, increasing to 5.82 when playing at home, highlighting how they open up more at Craven Cottage. Neither side have been particularly convincing in midfield areas, and there were nine corners in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium back in December.

Crysencio Summerville had two shots in the reverse fixture, and both were blocked, but he comes into this clash in a rich vein of form and has been a key reason for West Ham’s resurgence. He has shown a tendency to cut inside from the flank and take responsibility in the final third, often operating as the main outlet for West Ham in transition. 

Summerville was on the scoresheet in the FA Cup against QPR, helping his side secure their first win in 10 games, and he followed that up by scoring in each of the next four matches. The 24-year-old has failed to score in the last two fixtures against Bournemouth and Liverpool, respectively, but he still landed this selection in both. Summerville registered three shots against Liverpool, with one on target, and four attempts against Bournemouth, which also forced a save from the opposition goalkeeper.

Calvin Bassey will need to keep his wits about him when Crysencio Summerville is attacking on Wednesday night, but his primary matchup looks set to be Taty Castellanos. The striker has made an immediate impact since arriving from Lazio, bringing an intensity to West Ham’s forward line. He is averaging 2.56 fouls drawn per 90 and has registered multiple infringements in eight of his nine starts, showing how regularly he engages centre backs in physical duels.

Bassey took a while to reclaim his starting spot after returning from AFCON, but the Nigerian international has found his way back into the XI, and has landed this selection in each of his last three starts. That includes three fouls drawn against Spurs last time out, meaning he is averaging 1.4 fouls drawn per 90 this season - a notably high figure for a centre back. Bassey has shown a tendency to go down easily under contact, and he sees plenty of the ball for his side.
