Nottingham Forest host in-form Chelsea in a massive battle in the fight for Premier League survival and the race for European football.
Forest find themselves within touching distance of the dreaded dotted line, only three points ahead of Luton Town, whereas Chelsea have finally crept into the elusive European spots, with sixth place just two points ahead of them.
These two are polar opposites in terms of form right now but with so much to play for, there should be some real drama.

⚔️ Nottingham Forest v Chelsea Head-to-Head
Since their return to the Premier League in 2022, this fixture has been kind to Nottingham Forest. They have faced the Blues on three occasions, winning once and picking up two draws. Their victory came in the reverse fixture back in September where Forest ran away with all three points despite having a measly 23% of the ball – not Chelsea’s finest performance.
During that game at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea registered a whopping 21 shots, albeit only two hit the target, compared to the visitors’ seven, as well as winning the corner match bet 7-0 – it was a dominant performance from Mauricio Pochettino’s boys, except the final touches.
Chelsea’s blank in the last fixture was the only time a side has failed to net in this fixture across the last three meetings.
These meetings tend to attract lots of attention in the fouls and cards markets with four or more cards being distributed in all three of their recent meetings (7, 4, 4). Both teams have registered 10+ fouls in each of those meetings, except for Forest registering nine at Stamford Bridge in September, with some hefty fouling totals – 19, 28, 30.
With 25+ total shots being registered in their last two matchups, we should expect plenty of action, especially with both sides in need of a result. Chelsea and Forest have certainly shown their defensive vulnerabilities this season and expect them to play a big part once again.
📊 Nottingham Forest Form and Stats
This is a huge game for Forest in their bid for survival, a challenge that has only gotten progressively harder over the last few weeks. Forest picked up a massive result in their 3-1 victory last time out against basement boys Sheffield United, a victory that ended a four-game winless run.
With two wins from their last eight games at the City Ground, it’s been a tough ride for Forest recently at home. However, they do tend to be on their best form when entertaining the home crowd, with 20 of their 29 points coming on home turf.
Forest have only blanked on four occasions at home this season from their 18 games and they have shown decent attacking threat recently, netting at least once in five of their last seven in the top-flight.
This action seems to spill into the set piece department, with double-digit corner tallies landing in four of their last five games at home, the only exception being nine total corners against Man City last time out. Forest’s home matches average 10.06 corners per 90 this season, a potential piece of value for Saturday’s game.
📊 Chelsea Form and Stats
Chelsea are enjoying some great form of late, picking up two wins to nil in their last two games, scoring an impressive seven goals. However, their form away from Stamford Bridge certainly has left much to be desired with the Blues without an away victory in five efforts, though they have picked up four draws from those five.
Despite keeping three clean sheets in five Premier League matches, these have all come at home and sandwiched between those defensive results was a 5-0 battering at the Emirates and a tight 2-2 draw at Villa Park – they’re shakey away from home.
Chelsea have conceded in 17 of their 19 away assignments this season and haven’t kept an away clean sheet since gameweek seven. This includes conceding two or more goals in four consecutive away games.
Fortunately, Chelsea have been able to counter their defensive troubles with their improved attacking performances. The Blues have scored nine goals in their last three games and have scored two or more goals in an impressive 11 of their last 13 across all competitions, the only exceptions being their blanks against Arsenal and Man City – which includes four away matches.
Chelsea registered a huge 14 shots on target in their domination of West Ham with the likes of Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson sharing just over half of those between them – their attack is playing with confidence.
💰 Nottingham Forest v Chelsea Best Bets
In light of both teams’ potential for goals, especially when Forest play at home and Chelsea away, both teams to score at 1.44 with Betfair looks good value. Forest have scored in eight of their last 10 home matches in the Premier League while Chelsea have scored twice or more in three of their last four away days.
Following on from Chelsea’s staggering attacking display last week, over 1.5 Chelsea goals at 1.67 with Betfair also looks a strong bet. Our Betfair sportsbook review is a great resource for Premier League bettors. Nicolas Jackson is showing signs of a more prolific striker and is proving more composed with his opportunities, you can always expect Cole Palmer to produce after netting again last time out – they’ll certainly trouble a weak Forest backline who are without a clean sheet in 11 league efforts (five home games).
