Les Bleus will need at least a draw to secure automatic qualification to the knockout phases, although they will have their sights set on victory to secure a potentially more favourable round of 16 draw.
Kylian Mbappe was listed on the bench against Netherlands, although the Real Madrid forward is set to miss this clash. Robert Lewandowski featured off the bench against Austria last game and is likely to start this do-or-die match for the Poles.
France v Poland Best Bets
➡️ Antoine Griezmann to have 2+ shots @ 1.50 with Paddy Power
➡️ France goalkeeper to make 2+ saves @ 1.62 with Paddy Power
From an attacking sense, Antoine Griezmann was the biggest beneficiary of Kylian Mbappe’s absence. He saw a lot more of the ball in the final third, with 57 touches of the ball against Netherlands, compared to 47 against Austria. Griezmann seemed more intent on shooting as well, with five shots against Netherlands, three of which hit the target. Against a Poland defence who have leaked chances, Griezmann 2+ shots at 1.50 looks a solid angle.
Poland’s leaky defence has proven costly this tournament, as they have not struggled to create chances going forward. That was perfectly exemplified by forcing six saves from Bart Verbruggen v Netherlands. Against Austria, they had 15 shots and shot-stopper Patrick Pentz was called into action twice. With Lewandowski returning, Poland might pose more of a threat going forward, so the France Goalkeeper to Make 2+ Saves at 1.62 seems like a shrewd bet.

📊 France Form and Stats
France might consider themselves lucky to have left the Leipzig Stadium with a point after Xavi Simons had a late goal controversially ruled out for offside. Didier Deschamps can take a few positives from the game, though. Defensively, France have been impressive with back-to-back clean sheets – Les Bleus conceded just eight shots against the Netherlands, totalling 0.47 xGA. Although Austria could only muster six shots against France, the chances were of better quality, equating to 0.76 xGA.
France were unable to find the back of their opponents’ net from 15 attempts. Griezmann deputised as the skipper and was the main culprit for their wastefulness. The Atletico Madrid man accounted for 0.94 xG out of the 1.47 xGF created by France, with five shots in total. Marcus Thuram shifted into a central role to fill the void left by Mbappe, but was unable to make a significant impact in the role.
📊 Poland Form and Stats
Poland can take confidence from the fact they have scored in both fixtures so far. They created 1.32 xGF against Netherlands from 12 shots, and 1.68 xGF against Austria from 15 attempts.
Poland have perhaps defied expectations by playing in an extremely progressive manner, pressing high and committing bodies forward in transition, although that turned out to be their downfall against Austria. Christoph Baumgartner put Austria ahead from a smooth transition, before Marcel Sabitzer forced a penalty following a rapid counter-attack. Marko Arnautovic made no mistake from the spot to ensure victory for Ralf Ragnick’s Austria.
⚔️ France v Poland Head-to-Head
Poland fans will wince when thinking back to the last head-to-head game against France – it was in the 2022 World Cup last 16, in which the Poles succumbed to a 3-1 defeat. That game witnessed Olivier Giroud overtake Thierry Henry to become the all-time leading goalscorer for France, before a masterful Kylian Mbappe brace. Poland might find some relief that neither are expected to start on Tuesday evening.
Robert Lewandowski converted a 99th-minute spot-kick in that game, a consolation goal. It was the first time since 1995 that Poland had scored against France. The Barcelona striker made his first appearance of the tournament against Austria, in a 30-minute cameo. Although his efforts to influence the game were in vain, Poland will be boosted by the potential return of their captain.
