Point Lonsdale certainly deserves to be at the head of the market, as a dual Group Two winner, rated a couple of pounds ahead of his nearest rivals on the figures. The son of Epsom and Irish Derby winner, Australia, has been a classy act at distances between 1m2f and 1m5f in his career, yet is unraced at this journey. His brother, Broome, scored in Group Two company over two miles, which offers hope of Point Lonsdale seeing out the trip here.

The form of the Aidan O’Brien stable is a positive, with the master trainer already notching winners at York this week, and Ryan Moore could use his tactical nous once again, like his did with City Of Troy on Wednesday.

Angelo Buonarroti delivered a pleasing debut performance, despite the form figure of ninth. That first run came in the ultra-competitive G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. Pitched in at the deep end, the expensive €1,000,000 breeze-up purchase, travelled powerfully throughout the race and was only beaten three lengths by subsequent Group One second Rashabar.

With his sights lowered and experience on side, the selection can go close, if taking any step forward, for owners who excel with the placing of their juveniles.

Course-and-distance winner Lieber Power arrives in excellent form, following a highly productive summer. The Cracksman gelding boasts a pair of firsts and seconds in his previous four runs, including an eyecatching effort at Windsor last time, where he finished well and pulled clear of the third.

He may have further improvement to come, especially returning to this winning course and is well-in here – due to go up 4lb in the future – which certainly offers the chance of running into the places at an each-way price.

Andesite has been kept fresh for this Group Two assignment, since running out a determined winner on debut at this track in May. A son of Pinatubo, he is a half-brother to the same connections’ Queen Mary winner Dramatised.

His debut success was ahead of a subsequent Listed winner, with the pair pulling clear of the remainder. The fourth and seventh were next-time-out winners, to give the form further substance. Andesite has the potential to improve on only his second career outing and is bred to be up to this standard

Bradsell appears overpriced on the pick of his form, especially over the minimum trip. The Archie Watson-trained four-year-old is lightly raced for his age and delivered a career best when dropping down to this journey in the G1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last term. He was a good third in this race following that victory – despite being drawn away from the pace – and should line up favourably this time around.

A low draw could also prove beneficial, with the sprints dominated by those drawn on the far side, on day one of the Ebor festival.

Our first selection in our York Lucky 15 comes in the 13:50, where we have Lieber Power, who has been in great form since stepping up in trip.

A four-year-old gelding out of Cracksman who had a tough start to his career spanning from 2022 to early 2024. Racing seven times over this period, Lieber Power failed to make the placings in six of his seven appearances. Racing between 1m and 1m3f trips during this poor spell, it has only been since July this year, when stepped up in trip, that he has come to life. Racing four times since last month, the gelding has recorded results of 1,2,1,2 and looks to have found his perfect trip.

Landing a course and distance win here last month to kick start his journey, he produced another great win at Chepstow earlier this month when stumbling at the start. Narrowly beaten by a neck last time out, Lieber Power’s handicap mark looks workable still, and he holds bold claims racing over his newfound 1m4f trip.

Our next selection in our York Lucky 15 is Align The Stars, who has finished inside the top two in seven of his nine appearances.

A three-year-old colt who is improving with each and every start this year and is looking to land a four timer here today. Taking part in his first group two event, he is taking a big jump up in class, but it is fully deserved given the runs he has been producing of late and he should feel right at home in today’s company. Racing over 2m for the first time, the further trip shouldn’t cause him any issues considering he finished his last three races full of running and looks to have extra in the tank if called upon.

Beating some quality opposition in the build up to today’s event and coming into this race arguably holding the best recent form, the three-year-old holds bold each way claims, especially racing off his biggest price to date.

Next up in our York Lucky 15, we have Regional, who has been producing his best runs in the last two years.

A six-year-old who produced some great form last season when winning three of his four appearances in some tough races. Landing a competitive class two handicap over course and distance last year before stepping up into listed company to record back-to-back wins. Breaking the course record in his listed run at Haydock when stepping up in grade, the gelding had his eyes set on a much tougher event on his return to Haydock three months later. Racing in his second group one event, further improvement was always on the horizon, staying on well over a further 6f trip to land his first group one at a price of 10/1.

Featuring in three group races this year (finishing 2,2,4), he has been producing solid performances, with his best finish coming at Royal Ascot, where he finished a length behind today’s rival Asfoora but beat Big Evs, both of which are at the head of today’s market. Looking to continue this sterling run of form, Regional can’t be overlooked, and another group win looks on the cards.

Last but not least, our final runner for our York Lucky 15, we have Ebts Guard, who has made the top three in all six of his starts this year.

A three-year-old colt who is producing career-best form this year and picked up his first win at Thrisk in June. After having to settle for minor placings throughout his short career, he finally got off the mark and has been unlucky not to further that success. Recording results of 2,3,2 after his win, he has been beaten by less than a length in his two second-place finishes and finished just over a length behind the eventual winner at Ascot when third.

Form heading in the right direction and finishing off his 1m race at Goodwood strongly after being short of room, he holds solid each way claims racing over 1m again here today. Racing on good to firm, Ebts Guard’s best three performances have all come when racing on this ground (1,2,2) and he looks set for another bold bid here today at his price.
