A three-year-old gelding who raced three times in his opening season last year and rounded up his short season with his first win at Beverley. Landing his first win over a shorter 5f trip on soft ground, he finished the race strongly and has been upped to 6f for the majority of his 2024 campaign. Racing well in softer ground conditions, today’s good to-soft will suit him and although he hasn’t landed a win so far this year in handicaps, he has been racing consistently, finishing inside the top four in four of his five turf starts this year.

Finishing second in a tougher class four event in June, Pals Battalion is capable of landing this race at a big price and racing off his current mark, he holds solid each-way claims in today’s affair, especially with four places on offer.

Heading to Newcastle for the 20:00, our next free Hit Rates tip is SAISONS DOR, who has placed in the top four in 70% of his races.

A nine-year-old veteran who is still proving he has what it takes and is sporting a consistent season so far this year. Racing 10 times in 2024, Saisons DOr has finished inside the top four in eight of his 10 appearances and picked up a win at Catterick in May. Returning to all-weather racing here today for the first time since April, he kicked off his season here at Newcastle and was unfortunate not to get off the mark early. Racing three times over course and distance at the beginning of the year, the gelding finished second on all three occasions and was narrowly beaten in all three starts by less than a length.

Producing solid performances and already being a three-time course and distance winner here at Newcastle in the past (all with Jack Garrity on board), the duo hold bold claims on their return here today.

Rounding up today’s Hit Rates at Newcastle, our final free Hit Rate of the day comes in the 20:30, where we have STRANGERONTHESHORE, who has finished in the top four in 47% of his races.

A well-raced six-year-old mare who has 42 races under her belt, and although she hasn’t picked up a win so far this season from her six appearances, her mark looks appealing here today. Rounding up her 2023 campaign last year with a course and distance win here at 11/1, she is returning to racing on all weather for the first time since her win and has been showing positive signs in her last few turf races. Finishing third at Beverley last time out, she didn’t get a clear run-through but managed to finish strongly to land a close third and should come on from this run.

Racing off a very workable mark of 58 here today, Strangerontheshore landed her course and distance win here off a mark of 62 and looks well in here today to land another race at Newcastle at a double figure price.
