Preston North End midfielder Stefan Teitur Thordarson looks strong value at 1.83 with Sky Bet to commit at least one foul when his side meet Blackburn on Friday.

The odds imply there is a 54.5% chance of him doing this, compared to Paddy Power’s 61.7% implied probablility.

Thordarson has given away at least one foul in three of his last five matches (60%). This equates to a foul every 56.4 minutes he has been on the field.

He’s fouled in four of last five away games, including three fouls against Watford who are a similar level to Blackburn, sitting just one point below them.

As a team, Preston have committed the most fouls in the entire Championship. They’ve cleared the 14+ fouls line in each of their last five away trips.

Given this is a derby, and Blackburn average the 3rd most fouls in the league, it’s no surprise the match foul line is set at 26+. I’d expect Thordarson to be involved in at least one of these.

Todd Cantwell is a potential direct opponent. The Blackburn attacking midfielder is drawing 3.30 fouls per 90, and has been fouled at least twice in 14 of his last 15 outings.

Preston have not had more than 50% possession in any of their last four matches so are likely to spend a long period of this game on the back foot. With more defensive work to do, the risk of committing a foul rises.
