Union Berlin v Greuther Furth
🏟
Friday 29th April – 7:30PM KO
Union Berlin boss Urs Fischer was in a typically reserved mood when asked about the prospects of his side being strong favourites for their Friday night clash with Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga. “That they can play freely, I don’t know if that’s the case,” said the Union boss in relation to Furth getting relegated last weekend. “When you’re relegated, it’s not an easy situation.”
However, despite Fischer’s modesty, his Union side are favourites for this coming clash and there are a number of reasons why. Perhaps the most obvious one is that the Berlin club are in a terrific run of form, which has not only seen them pick up six wins and two draws from their last 10 games, but they’ve also managed to pick up 15 goals along the way.
Indeed, following the departure of star striker Max Kruse in January, Union have managed to promote Taiwo Awoniyi to goalscorer-in-chief and the Nigerian striker has thrived with the responsibility, having scored four goals in 10 games and been an instrumental battering ram up front throughout the club’s impressive run of form.
Couple that with Furth’s woeful defensive record on the road this season – which stands at an average of 3.06 conceded goals per game – and it’s clear that his should be a resounding victory for Union, as they put together a convincing scoreline along the way.

Borussia Dortmund v Bochum
🏟
Saturday 30th April – 2:30PM KO
Borussia Dortmund were once again taught a lesson in how far they still had to go to match expectations last weekend when they were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. However, that’s unlikely to do Bochum any favours when they travel to the Westfalenstadion on Saturday.
For all of Marco Rose’s side’s faults, they have somehow managed to put together a decent and consistent run of results against lesser sides in the Bundesliga this season. Alongside notable defeats to Bayern and RB Leipzig in recent weeks, Dortmund have confidently dispatched potential banana skins in Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Mainz and Arminia Bielefeld.
It’s that ability to win the easily winnable games that has Dortmund still sitting comfortably in second place and with a home record that has seen the club win 12 of their 15 games in the league this season.
Bochum, in contrast, have lost all sense of consistency since being assured of no relegation threat this season and have managed just one win from their last five league games. They’re unlikely to cause too many problems for a Dortmund side intent on making amends for last weekend.

Stuttgart v Wolfsburg
🏟
Saturday 30th April – 2:30PM KO
With six wins and nine defeats between them from a combined 20 games, there’s little doubt that Stuttgart and Wolfsburg are two of the most difficult teams to call in the Bundesliga right now.
Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side have found themselves dragged back into the relegation spots after four games without victory, which saw the side score just one goal. However, the Swabian side have been better at home, where they’ve picked up 25 goals from 15 games and should fancy their chances against an equally dishevelled Wolfsburg side.
Indeed, Florian Kohfeldt’s team have been terrible in defence lately, having conceded 13 goals in their last 10 league games, but have managed to pull together victories in recent weeks over Mainz and Arminia Bielefeld in no small part due to the attacking firepower they possess in Lukas Nmecha, Jonas Wind and Max Kruse.
As such, this game could end up going either way, but both teams will be relying on their ability to simply out score their opponents on the day, rather than any sense of calm composure in defence.

Mainz v Bayern Munich
🏟
Saturday 30th April – 2:30PM KO
Having secured the Bundesliga title last weekend against Dortmund, some would think that Bayern Munich would put their feet up and allow some complacent to sip in. But that’s unlikely to be the case with this Julian Nagelsmann side.
Despite claiming his first title in Munich, the young head coach remains under immense pressure following a season in which Bayern failed miserably in the German Cup and Champions League. And in no uncertain terms does a league title make up for that.
Allowing the club’s form to take a nosedive in the remaining weeks of the season could prove disastrous to the narrative around the club ahead of a tricky summer transfer window, so we should expect a professional and well-drilled performance from the Bavarian giants against a Mainz side that have picked up just two victories from their last 10 league games.

Prediction: Bayern Munich to Win, 1.50 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Augsburg v Koln
🏟
Saturday 30th April – 2:30PM KO
In the words of Augsburg head coach Markus Weinzierl, the Bavarian minnows picked up a “brutally important victory” over Bochum last weekend and should be confident as they host Koln at home this weekend.
Weinzierl sit just four points off the drop but have worked their way out of trouble with impressive, defensive performances in the second half of the season. Last weekend’s clean sheet echoed similar feats against the likes of Wolfsburg, Arminia Bielefeld and Union Berlin since the turn of the year and more of the same will be demanded on Saturday.
Despite their impressive run of form lately, Koln have often struggled on the road this season, with just four victories from 15 games and despite averaging 1.7 goals per home game, their record on the road has slumped to just 1.2 in their last five games on the road.
Augsburg will have to be at their very best to take all three points from Koln, but it’s unlikely that either side will be trying their best to throw caution to the wind in favour of more goals.

Arminia Bielefeld v Hertha Berlin
🏟
Saturday 30th April – 2:30PM KO
There’s little doubt that with three wins from their last five games, Felix Magath has made a huge impact after being appointed as Hertha Berlin’s interim head coach until the end of the season. However, even after picking up a win over Stuttgart that pulled his side out of the bottom three, the senior manager admitted: “I can’t enjoy it yet, the pressure is too great.”
Indeed, anything but all three points away to Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday could risk seeing the capital side slip back into the relegation spots. However, fortunately for Hertha, the odds are firmly stacked against the hosts.
Not only have Arminia lost seven of their last eight games, but they’ve also been losing at both half time and full time in five of their last six clashes in the Bundesliga. And any attempts of a quick fix by sacking head coach Frank Kramer last week backfired dramatically when they then lost 3-1 to Koln.
Nothing is assured ahead of these relegation six-pointers but while Arminia seems stuck in a slump, Hertha certainly seem to have some momentum behind them. And that should be enough.

Prediction: Hertha Draw no Bet, 1.95 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Hoffenheim v Freiburg
🏟
Saturday 30th April – 5:30PM KO
While it remains to be seen whether Hoffenheim or Freiburg will finish in the European spots come the end of the season, there’s little doubt that both teams have been the most fascinating to watch over the past few months.
Over the course of the last 10 match days, Hoffenheim have won four and lost three as any sense of consistency has gone out of the window. But, to keep things interesting, Sebastian Hoeneß’ side have still managed to score 11 goals, while shipping 13 along the way.
Similarly, Christian Streich’s team are the neutral’s favourite to clinch a four place finish but, like Hoffenheim, the Black Forest side have managed to score 19 and concede 13 in just 10 games. As last weekend’s 3-3 clash with Gladbach showed, Freiburg are never quite finished scoring goals until the final whistle goes.
As such, while Streich’s side are slight favourites for this clash, a far more sensible bet would be on both teams slogging it out from one end of the pitch to the other for 90 minutes and simply relying on outsourcing one another for the points.
