Nottingham Forest host Tottenham in a league fixture for the first time since April 1999, a game in which Spurs triumphed by one goal to nil. Since then, there have of course been major changes for both clubs and there’s no recent head to head record to take into account. Anyway, enough of the history lesson and onto the real stuff! Forest have made a reasonable enough start to their campaign, picking up 4 points in the process. Last weekend we saw them take a point at Goodison Park, after conceding late on. They’ve also had a huge overhaul of players this transfer window and are still adjusting to life in the Premier League. We’ve seen over a dozen new players sign for the club, as Steve Cooper looks to bed them all in. This is something that doesn’t just happen overnight though! In opposition, Spurs arrive here in good form after collecting all 3 points against Wolves in their previous game. The lacklustre performance proved that Conte can guide his team to victory even when they’re not at the races on the day. Something we tended not to see so often in the past. I feel these battling qualities are a sign that the club are certainly still moving in the right direction.
Nottingham Forest v Spurs Bet Builder Tips
Both Teams to Score
To kick us off in this bet builder, I’m taking both teams to score. Goal scoring has not been an issue for this Forest team who have now scored in each of their previous 12 home league games at the City Ground. Of course, this is taking into account the back end of their Championship season. I am keen to keep them onside though in this encounter, especially with the amount of attacking options the club now possess. The recent singings of Taiwo Awoniyi, Jesse Lingard, Emmanuel Dennis and Morgan Gibbs White definitely add further depth to the squad. This gives Cooper numerous options in attack, if needing to change things up in forward positions seeking a goal.
The wing back system has given license to Harry Toffolo and Neco Williams on either flank, allowing for further attacking impetus. Both have been seen bombing down the flanks so far, with the Welshman shooting on 8 occasions. I also feel the crowd have a part to play in this game once more as well. The incredible atmosphere in their opener against West Ham massively helped the team. Of course, we know the home supporters cannot have a direct impact on the match itself. However, it can certainly intimidate their opponents in Spurs here which can only help their cause. I really fancy the home side to get themselves on the scoresheet in this one after taking everything into consideration.
Spurs have now notched in 8 of their last 11 away Premier League matches. They’ll fully expect to do so in this particular fixture too with the talent at their disposal. The away side are currently on an upwards trajectory under manager Conte, with many predicting another strong display here. Their opponents have faced a seriously high number of shots from open play in the league, 47 to be exact. With this in mind, players such as Harry Kane and Heung Min Son will be ready to fill their boots in front of goal. The Englishman has hit the back of the net in his previous 2 games, not to mention the number of others who may do so too, including the South Korean.
All in all, I feel BTTS is a solid pick in this fixture, with Forest likely to play an open expansive game and high quality forwards in both teams armoury.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score
Harry Kane Anytime Goalscorer
Well, where do I start when it comes to Harry Kane?! Possibly one of the greatest goal scoring centre forwards in the world right now. His proven record is not to be sniffed at, having now moved up to 4th in the all-time record goal scorer charts in the Premier League. In terms of recent form, he’s netted in last 2 matches and up against a team who concede extremely high numbers of shots; this seems a no brainer to me. Kane will unquestionably have chances to score against a relatively inexperienced defence at the very top level. Goals can come from all different scenarios too; penalties, free kicks, headers, long distance or precision finishes, we’ve seen the attacker produce all these types of goals in previous matches.
The natural ability of a player to score goals is something only top clubs can dream of having in their side. We have seen this in abundance over a sustained period of time now. There’s every reason to believe it will happen yet again on Sunday. As we saw last weekend, Tottenham put in a fairly disappointing display. Nevertheless, the main man came up with the goods taking his chance when it came his way. The ruthlessness of the striker is exactly what I am referring to here and with Son and Kulusevski ready to provide the opportunities, there’s every chance Kane can hit the onion bag.
Need I say more when it comes to backing a Harry Kane goal, I don’t think so! Add him to the bet builder this week and you’ll certainly get a good run for your money.

Prediction: Harry Kane Anytime Goalscorer
Brennan Johnson 1+ SOT
Brennan Johnson has become a mainstay in this Nottingham Forest side. Manager, Steve Cooper, tends to always start the Welshman in his XI and he has completed the full 90 minutes in all league games thus far. This is something I always bear in mind when looking at prop selections such as this. The talented youngster has been in excellent form for a number of months now and is sure to continue this in the Premier League.
The attacker has now had a shot on target in both of his last 2 starts, as well as producing the goods in a magnificent Championship campaign in 21/22. In the entirety of last season, Johnson hit the target on 41 occasions, a rate of 0.86 SoT’s per game. This fabulous record is part of the reason why I am more than happy to add this selection to the bet builder. Not only has Johnson burst onto the scene domestically, but his superb performances have earnt him International caps for Wales. This clearly shows a constant progression in his game as he hopes to secure a spot in their World Cup squad. This will no doubt give him even more motivation to have his shooting boots on this Sunday!
I believe Forest will create chances within the match and the raw talent can shine through. The added bonus of Cristian Romero remaining side-lined for Spurs will help us with this pick and I’m backing Johnson to have at least one shot on target.

Prediction: Brennan Johnson 1+ SOT
Neco Williams 2+ Shots
The early signs this season are signalling that Neco Williams is set to play in an attacking full back role. We’ve seen him have 8 shots in the opening 3 games and been on free kick duty in this time as well. These promising statistics are an indication that there’s even more to come!
The likelihood is that the home side may well end up chasing this game and a key area they’ll look to exploit is down the wings. The tricky wing back has certainly not been shy of letting the peg go from distance, and has also been popping up in the box in an attempt to score his first goal for Forest. Like Joao Cancelo for Manchester City, Williams has been given the number 7 shirt, this again is another sign of his attacking prowess as we rarely see players in this position wearing this number. Obviously, it means nothing in terms of the bet landing but gives us belief he is expecting to play an extremely attacking role even though he is considered a defender.
As Tottenham are the visitors here, it can be assumed that Forest may have their chances or touches limited inside the opposition’s penalty area. This will lead to the home side being forced to shoot from distance, which is exactly what Williams is all about. Out of the 8 shots struck so far, 50% of these have been from outside the box. I personally feel this works in our favour in this specific matchup as it may well hand the Welshman extra opportunities of shooting.
A final interesting statistic I came across in relation to this selection is the fact he’s had six successful dribbles. If managing to beat his man in the final third, then our chances of a Williams shot undoubtedly increase. I feel 2+ shots are well within reach here, with the specific pick already proving profitable so far this season.
