In June 2025 Wales were playing Belgium in World Cup qualifying. After seeing the lineups, I thought Brennan Johnson might be playing as a lone striker.
I saw Kieffer Moore was on the bench, a possible super sub for Johnson. So I thought, ‘no harm in backing Johnson to score a header at 100/1 if he’s playing more centrally than normal, and you’ve got someone with the aerial ability of Moore replacing him’.
Funnily enough, Johnson wasn’t playing as a central striker, and Moore didn’t get on the pitch, but the stars aligned and Johnson scored a header to make it 3-3 after Wales had been trailing 3-0. I ended up £3000 better off and an amazing adrenaline rush to go with it.
Betting Heartbreak
It’s the 31st August 2019 - my seven-fold accumulator on the Saturday 3pm is on track to pocket me £950 from a £10 stake as we move into the dying embers of the matches.
Six out of seven have landed and the games have finished. I’m waiting on Rotherham to beat Tranmere, it’s the last minute of stoppage time. I attempt to place a cover bet on Tranmere double chance to ensure a good profit, but the bet doesn’t go through because the market is now suspended. Yep, you guessed it, Tranmere had scored an equaliser.
