Diego Simeone's side put together four consecutive La Liga wins before suffering a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the derby just before the international break. Sitting 13 points clear of Real Betis in La Liga, Atletico arrive without significant league pressure weighing on them.
Barcelona cannot afford the same luxury. Real Madrid sit just four points behind them in the title race, keeping the pressure firmly on Hansi Flick's side. They went into the break in strong form, edging out Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in La Liga before a commanding Champions League performance against Newcastle United.
After drawing 1-1 at St James' Park, Barcelona were ruthless in the second leg, winning 7-2 and generating 18 shots, ten big chances and 4.29 xG. Raphinha was the standout performer, contributing two goals and two assists, though the Brazilian has since picked up an injury on international duty and will miss this match.
Marcus Rashford is expected to fill in on the left wing in Raphinha's absence.
