Scotland v Ivory Coast Match Preview
Scotland head into Tuesday's friendly at the Hill Dickinson Stadium carrying some baggage from the weekend, a flat 1-0 defeat to Japan at Hampden that did little to inspire confidence ahead of this summer's World Cup.
Steve Clarke's side were well below par, losing the shot count 8-18 and failing to find the net for the first time since September. Clarke is expected to ring the changes, though he'll again be without Aaron Hickey and Craig Gordon through injury. As in qualifying, Scotland will likely line up in a 4-2-3-1, which often morphs into a 4-5-1 without the ball.
Ivory Coast arrive in sharply contrasting form. Emerse Fae's side cruised through World Cup qualifying unbeaten across 10 games, eight wins, two draws, and backed that up with a commanding 4-0 dismantling of South Korea on Saturday.
The Elephants are heading to their first World Cup since 2014 and look in fine fettle. Fae typically deploys a 4-3-3, with a strong Premier League contingent including Amad Diallo, while Nicolas Pepe could push for a start having come off the bench at the weekend. Yan Diomande is their only reported absentee.
On paper, this looks like a mismatch in form, and potentially on the pitch too.
