Sunday afternoon's kick-off in the Premier League sees Sunderland host Tottenham.
Roberto De Zerbi will take charge of Tottenham for the first time on Sunday, and it’s not an easy debut match for him against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. However, the new manager will have to hit the ground running, as Spurs are just one point above the relegation zone, without a Premier League win in 2026.

Sunderland v Tottenham Match Preview
Sunderland head into this fixture having experienced a turbulent few weeks. The Black Cats suffered an FA Cup upset at the hands of Port Vale in the round of 16, before following that up with a 1-0 home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion - their third consecutive loss at the Stadium of Light.
However, Régis Le Bris' side responded by beating local rivals Newcastle 2-1 to steady the ship. Sitting 11th in the Premier League, Sunderland will be targeting a top-half finish. Éric Dissard is expected to return from a knock to the starting eleven, with Habib Diarra likely shifting to the right wing and Chemsdine Talbi on the left. Noah Sadiki and Granit Xhaka should continue as the midfield double pivot, while Reinildo could come in at left back, allowing Trai Hume to return to his more natural right back position.
Tottenham arrive under entirely different circumstances. Roberto De Zerbi takes charge for the first time this weekend, inheriting a side badly in need of direction. His predecessor Igor Tudor won just one of his eight matches in charge - against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League - though Spurs were still eliminated from the competition on aggregate. De Zerbi faces immediate pressure to shore up a leaky defence and deliver results with a depleted squad.
Guglielmo Vicario, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus are all unavailable. Antonín Kinský is set to return in goal, with Cristian Romero captaining a back line likely to include Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso. Archie Gray and Pape Sarr are expected to continue in midfield.

Both Teams to Score
Sunderland’s 11W-10D-10L record highlights inconsistency, with three straight home losses after a 12-game unbeaten run. They’ve kept just one clean sheet in six matches. Spurs are equally fragile, conceding 26 goals with no clean sheet in ten games, making both teams scoring highly likely.
Tottenham Over 1.5 Cards
Tottenham rank 4th for fouls, with the second-most yellow and red cards in the league. Cristian Romero alone has eight yellows and two reds. This chaotic style looks set to continue under De Zerbi.
Brian Brobbey 1+ Shots on Target
Brobbey has six league goals and scored a crucial 90th-minute winner v Newcastle. He netted in the reverse fixture and had three shots in that game. Facing a Spurs side with no clean sheets in 10 and 26 goals conceded, he’s well-positioned to test the keeper.
Cristian Romero 2+ Fouls Committed
Romero averages 1.34 fouls per 90 and has eight yellows and two reds this season. He committed five fouls in just three games under Igor Tudor. With De Zerbi’s aggressive pressing system likely increasing defensive duels, Romero remains a strong candidate to commit multiple fouls.
