This has goals written all over it with both coaches well known for their attacking style, and neither will be adapting their philosophy too much for this game, thinking that they can pick off the spaces left by their opponents.
Barnsley’s goal record under Conor Hourihane is worth mentioning. They have scored 1.68 goals per match this season, but they have also conceded 1.75 goals per match, for a total of 3.43 goals per game on average.
Indeed, Barnsley have seen over 2.5 goals land in each of their last seven league games, with both teams scoring in the last four, so we should be expecting Peterborough to contribute to the scoring here.
Posh are certainly well capable of this. They have blown somewhat hot and cold in recent weeks, but the attacking intent is certainly there. They have averaged 1.65 goals per game under Luke Williams, but even more impressively, they have averaged 1.72 xG, so chances are being created.
Given Barnsley's defensive record, I like the chances of Posh to get on the scoresheet, and with them conceding in each of their last three away games, Barnsley will have their chances too.
