Vincent Kompany should use this opportunity to rotate his side with Bayern having such a strong advantage from the first leg, after running out 6-1 winners in Italy.

This should see Lennart Karl come into the starting lineup, the 18-year-old has impressed me whenever I’ve seen him play and I think he’ll continue his strong form in this clash.

Karl has scored three goals across just five starts in the Champions League this season, which is a good small sample of his talent. Karl could develop into one of Europe’s top players if he continues this trajectory, but we just need him to find the target here.

Karl has taken 15 shots across five starts in the Champions League this term (3.62 per 90), with eight of those efforts finding the target (1.93 per 90). He’s also registered seven goal contributions across just 13 starts in the Bundesliga this term while averaging 1.36 shots on target per 90.

Konrad Laimer really struggled in the first half of the first leg last week, committing three fouls and picking up a card in just 45 minutes of action. He is a versatile player, but is having to fill in at left back at the moment, which really isn’t his favoured position.

Laimer was faced by two opponents down his side in Bayern’s 6-1 win last week, and was probably the only weakness in what was a stellar performance from the Bundesliga leaders. Atalanta play with a 3-4-3 shape, so we can expect Laimer to be tested again here by at least two direct opponents.

Laimer has committed eight fouls across his seven starts in the Champions League this term (1.29 per 90), notably collecting four yellow cards across those games. Bayern were so dominant in the first leg, so they may drift through this second leg at times, which is the perfect lapse in concentration to encourage Atalanta to find joy down Laimer’s side of the pitch. 

Bayern’s attacking output really is relentless. They scored six goals last week, but could have had more with 13 shots on target in the game - leading to an xG of 4.84. 

I really like Marco Carnesecchi, he’s a solid keeper and could be in for a move to a bigger club in the next few years. He’s been busy in the Champions League this season, making 34 saves across his 10 starts in the competition (3.40 per game). 

Bayern should be able to test him at least three times in this contest, with how relentless they can be in the final third - Vincent Kompany’s side are averaging 8.20 shots on target per game in the Champions League this season, more than any other side in the competition.

The first leg meeting between the sides produced exactly nine corners as Bayern ran out 6-1 winners over Atalanta. Bayern won seven of those corners, so we can expect them to be the driving force behind a rising corner count again here.

The main barrier to this leg of our bet builder is that the tie is pretty much dead, but this can actually lead to a more free-flowing game with the pressure off both sides. Bayern Munich are averaging 4.89 corners per game in the Champions League this season, with their nine games seeing an average of 8.33 corners per game.

Atalanta are seeing just under four corners per game in the Champions League this term on the road, but I think we’ll see a marginal rise in the corner numbers of both sides, given the freedom that both should play with, as Bayern are heavily expected to come through this second leg without too many scratches. 

The first leg between Atalanta and Bayern Munich wasn’t much of a contest, as the German side secured a 6-1 win at the New Balance Arena. Lennart Karl was an unused substitute in that game, but Vincent Kompany is likely to rotate his lineup for the second leg, so Karl should get a look-in to the starting XI. 

Karl played a big role in Bayern’s stellar league phase campaign, as he scored three goals in his six appearances. The 18-year-old is averaging 3.62 shots per 90 in the competition, and 53% of his efforts have hit the target. Karl landed this selection against Sporting Lisbon and Club Brugge at the Allianz Arena, while he also bagged a goal against Arsenal at the Emirates. 

Even in the Bundesliga, Karl is averaging 1.45 shots on target per 90, highlighting how adept he is at finding promising positions to score.

Nicola Zalewski was fouled twice against Bayern Munich in the first leg before being hauled off after 55 minutes, and he has been a magnet for drawing fouls all season. Even against Inter Milan at the weekend, the Pole was fouled four times against Inter Milan, meaning he is averaging 2.98 fouls drawn per 90 this season across all competitions.

He has been fouled at least twice in all four starts in the Champions League, even hitting this mark in both knockout legs against Dortmund. Zalewski is adept at drawing free kicks, as he has a tendency to go down easily under contact. Even though this second leg tie could lack competitiveness after the 6-1 drubbing last week, Bayern recorded 11 infringements in the first leg at the New Balance Arena, and Vincent Kompany is likely to demand a similar level of performance from his troops.
