There are small signs of Middlesbrough starting to wobble a bit after a strong run in the weeks leading up to their last three matches. Kim Hellberg’s side have failed to win any of their last three matches in the Championship, with two of those games seeing BTTS.
Middlesbrough have been pretty strong on the road in the Championship this term, avoiding defeat in 12 of their 17 matches on the road. They’ve seen 47 goals across those games, working out to an average of 2.76 goals per game.
They ran out 2-1 winners when the sides met earlier in the season, with that game seeing Middlesbrough being a bit lucky to get the three points, with Birmingham managing more shots (13-8) and a higher xG (1.20-0.61) despite ending up on the losing side.
Birmingham are much stronger at home than they are on the road, so I can see them making the most of Middlesbrough’s recent issues. Birmingham have seen BTTS in three of their last five matches across all competitions and have notably seen 45 goals across their 16 home games in the Championship this season (2.81 per game), losing just one of those games.
