Cove Rangers and East Fife head into their final league game of the season on Saturday still looking over their shoulders at the relegation play-off spot. Based on the form book, the hosts look well placed to pick up a positive result, which is why I’m backing them to avoid defeat.
Paul Hartley’s side start the weekend 7th in the table, three points above 9th place, largely thanks to winning three of their last four league matches, one of those victories being an impressive 2-0 home win over title-chasing Stenhousemuir. Looking further back, Cove have taken at least a point from nine of their last 11 league matches at home, which offers further encouragement as they look to secure the result needed to preserve their third-tier status.
While East Fife held league leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle to a 1-1 draw last weekend, Dick Campbell’s side have now managed just 2 wins in their last 19 league matches, not to mention they have come away empty-handed in 6 of their last 8 away from home.
