I think Dundee can score at least once against Rangers on Saturday night.
Steven Pressley’s side have made a really impressive start to the season and will come into this clash in high spirits.
The Dark Blues have failed to score in only one of their eight Scottish Premiership matches this season, which was on the opening weekend away at Celtic.
They have found the net in each of their subsequent seven fixtures, scoring multiple goals in each of their last two outings.
Dundee are a big, strong and powerful side, and their set pieces and long throws into the box should pose a threat.
Rangers have looked more solid of late, but their 3-1 home win over bottom-of-the-table Kilmarnock last weekend was not entirely convincing, as the visitors created several chances and could have scored more.
The Gers also failed to keep the back door shut in a recent away win at Falkirk, another side struggling near the bottom of the table.
I expect Rangers to see plenty of the ball here, but Steven Pressley’s well-organised Dundee side should press them intensely.
I think that could lead to the hosts picking up at least a couple of cards.
That was the case in Dundee’s 2-1 loss away at Hearts last month, when they received 3 yellow cards and had a man sent off.
The case for siding with this selection grows stronger when you factor in that Rangers’ Scottish Premiership opponents have averaged 1.75 cards per game this season.
A closer look shows that each of the last three teams to host Rangers in the Scottish Premiership has had at least two players booked.
I’m keen to back Min-su Kim to register at least one shot on target against Dundee on Saturday night.
The South Korean has quickly become a key figure in Rangers’ attack, with his creativity and willingness to shoot making him a threat around the box.
That is underlined by the fact that Min-su Kim has averaged a whopping 4.16 shots per game across his first six Scottish Premiership appearances for the Light Blues, firing off multiple attempts in each of those matches.
Dig a little deeper and it can be seen that the 20-year-old attacking midfielder has worked the opposition goalkeeper in 5 of those six matches, including each of his three appearances away from Ibrox.
Min-su Kim should get ample opportunity to hit the target again here against a defensively minded Dundee side that have conceded a sizeable average of 18.75 shots per game in the Scottish Premiership this season.
I’m also keen to back Rangers left-back James Penrice to attempt at least one shot during this contest.
Penrice has impressed since joining the club on loan over the summer.
He is an attack-minded left-back who is given plenty of licence to get forward and often moves into central areas, giving him further opportunities to get shots away.
That has been reflected in his numbers, as he has attempted at least 1 shot in five of his six Scottish Premiership appearances this season, including 2 efforts away at Celtic.
He has also taken the odd set piece from within shooting range this season, which strengthens the case for him to have at least one attempt at Dens Park on Saturday night.
