Falkirk’s clash with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday has all the makings of an entertaining encounter. The Bairns are locked in 6th place and have nothing other than pride to play for this weekend, while the same is also true for Rangers, who are guaranteed to finish in 3rd spot. That should see both sides approach this clash with a relaxed mindset, which I think will lend itself to a goal-heavy game.
That was certainly the case when the two teams met at the Falkirk Stadium just last month, with Rangers running out 6-3 winners in a barnstorming encounter. In fact, that was just one in a long line of Rangers matches that have been high-scoring in recent times, underlined by the fact that 10 of the Light Blues’ last 11 Scottish Premiership games have featured over 2.5 goals.
It’s been a similar story for Falkirk of late, with eight of their last 11 top-flight fixtures producing at least three goals, including five of their previous six in front of their own supporters.
