Ivan Romero led the line for Levante against Valencia last time out, but it was a lacklustre display from the hosts, and they were beaten 2-0. For only the second time this season, Romero failed to draw a foul when starting - both times, he has featured as the central striker. However, with Karl Etta expected to return to the starting XI in midweek, Romero could feature on the left wing against Villarreal. Romero is averaging 2.89 fouls drawn per 90 this season, and has been fouled at least twice in seven out of nine starts at home. He tends to see a lot more of the ball when playing on the flank.
Romero draws an excellent matchup on Wednesday night to improve that hit-rate even further, up against the aggressive Santiago Mourino. The Uruguay international is averaging 2.08 fouls per 90 across all competitions this season, and has racked up six infringements in his last two starts alone.
