Macclesfield v Brentford Bet Builder @ 3.26

Keane Lewis-Potter is one of the most versatile players in the Premier League, and was deployed up front by Keith Andrews in the last round of the FA Cup - having six shots and scoring Brentford’s opener in their 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Lewis-Potter scored against Arsenal during the week to earn Brentford a point against the league leaders, and has registered four goal contributions across his 12 starts in the Premier League this term.

Keith Andrews may feel it is best for Lewis-Potter to operate in his usual role on the wing, I’d still feel confident in backing Lewis-Potter to register a goal contribution from this role, given the confidence he carries into this fixture - and his strong displays for Brentford throughout the campaign to date.

I think Keith Andrews will take this opportunity to rotate his side, as he did in the last round of the cup, which should mean a starting role on the right wing for Romelle Donovan.

Brentford are one of the best clubs in the Premier League when it comes to identifying talent and developing players, Donovan could be the latest to benefit from this structure, which has seen Brentford survive in the Premier League quite comfortably in recent seasons.

Donovan had three shots in Brentford’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the last round of the cup, with one of those attempts finding the target. There isn’t a lot of data for Donovan at the moment, but having gone back and watched his display against Sheffield Wednesday, he has plenty of talent and wants to get shots away as quickly as possible.

Macclesfield captured headlines with their 2-1 triumph over Crystal Palace in the last round of the FA Cup, managing 13 shots in that clash - four of which managed to find the target.

Macclesfield are enjoying a decent campaign in the National League North, and will see this as another free hit, with many expecting them to go out of the competition at this stage. What is particularly notable about Macclesfield’s success this season is their home record in the National League North; they’ve avoided defeat in 13 of their 16 matches and have won 10 of those games.

Macclesfield have netted 31 goals across those games, and while they are faced with a higher level of opposition here, I think that their confidence can help them cover the shot line in this clash. They come into this game having won each of their last three matches in the National League North, so that confidence from their triumph over Palace should extend to this cup tie.

Brentford are also likely to rotate for this cup clash with Keith Andrews giving some younger players an opportunity, which can help Macclesfield cover this shots on target line.

Macclesfield made history in the last round of the FA Cup, but I don’t think they’ll be able to repeat the scale of that achievement here. I don’t think it’ll be a walkover for Brentford, but they come into this clash in a much better spot than Palace did when Oliver Glasner’s side faced off against the National League North outfit.

Brentford comfortably dispatched Sheffield Wednesday in the last round of the cup with a 2-0 victory and a partially rotated side. Brentford have pretty decent depth, so even with their reserves coming into the side, they should have enough for the Bees to get over the line. Confidence is currently quite high in the Brentford camp as well, having recently beaten Villa and Newcastle, as well as claiming a point against Arsenal.
