Luton’s away form under Jack Wilshere has been horrific, the Hatters having been beaten in six straight trips on the road, failing to score in four of those. Those defeats have included visits to strugglers Wigan and Exeter, whilst they were also thrashed 5-0 by an out of sorts Barnsley in recent weeks, and so there’s no reason to expect them to have it easy at the bottom side in the division. They also failed to beat Burton last weekend, a game that was punctuated by ugly scenes between Luton players, Wilshere, and the fans.
Port Vale may be 10 points from safety, but they will come into this game buoyed by a 96th minute equaliser against Reading, followed by a crucial win at Northampton in midweek. If Jon Brady is to stand any chance of an incredible survival bid, wins in front of the Valiant faithful will be vital and having last won at Vale Park on New Year’s Day, they’re certainly due a result on their own patch. Having avoided defeat in four of their last six league games, they seem intent on making a fist of it, and the visit of a struggling Luton could be just what they need.
