San Diego finished top of the Western Conference in the MLS last season, edging out Vancouver Whitecaps by goal difference alone. Their home record wasn’t the most convincing, with their best displays coming on the road, but Montreal were often the punching bags of many MLS sides last taerm, and I don’t think too much will change this campaign.
Only Atalanta and DC United (5) won fewer games in the entirety of the MLS last season than Montreal (6). Four of these wins did manage to come away from home, but Montreal conceded 27 goals across these 17 matches - indicating that even though they are slightly better when on their travels, their general level is poor, and they can be exploited by a San Diego side who should take plenty of confidence from their displays last season.
