As was the case on Thursday night, I expect both teams to find the net in Monday night’s second leg at St Mirren Park. Both sides went in search of victory in the first leg in Maryhill, and, in truth, there could easily have been more goals. I can’t see either team adopting a more cautious approach here, which is why I’m keen to back both teams to score once again.
What also strengthens the case is the fact that each team has obliged in all three of Partick Thistle’s play-off matches this season, including in both legs of their semi-final tie against Dunfermline.
Although St Mirren have often looked short of attacking threat this season, they have now made the net bulge in three consecutive matches. That run includes last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Dundee United in Paisley.
It’s also worth noting that the sides met at this venue in the Scottish Cup not too long ago, and both teams found the net on that occasion as well.
