Two justified favourites with leaky defences
- Viking v Sabah
- Today
You’ll probably remember Viking holding Bayern to a mental 3-3 draw a few weeks ago.
That game sums them up.
They’re goal mad and never play on the back foot, a bit like Bodø/Glimt in that aspect.
They’ve scored in every Champions League game so far, against Aston Villa, Bayern and Stuttgart.
At home in Stavanger they should be too strong for Sabah, they've won seven of their eight home games since August and haven’t lost any.
But they’re not watertight.
They concede 1.27 goals a game, and Sabah can hurt them.
Sabah have three points from their first three Champions League games after beating Slavia Prague 2-0.
They also scored against Dortmund and gave them a good game, creating 1.49 xG.
Domestically they’re scoring 2.05 goals a game, so they’ve got enough to nick one in Norway.
I’m expecting a Viking win, with Sabah to nick at least a goal.
RB Leipzig v Man City should be full of goals.
Leipzig’s games are averaging 4.00 goals each this season.
They’ve scored in 12 of their 13 matches, including against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Como and PSV.
Their problem is at the back, they’re conceding 1.73 goals a game across the Bundesliga and Champions League.
They’ve let in four against Real Madrid, six against Bayern and four against Como.
City should have enough quality to win this.
Yes, they lost 1-0 at home to Brighton, but they created 1.64 xG and missed five big chances.
Before that, they’d scored in every one of their 13 games this season, winning 10 of those.
Leipzig are dangerous going forward, but they can’t keep the big sides out.
They’ve lost to Real Madrid, Bayern, Leverkusen and Como already.
So I’m backing City to win, but I’d expect Leipzig to get one.
