Hull v Brentford Bet Builder 🧱 @ 7.31

Andy Robson

Brentford have only lost one game in the PL so far

After a flying start to life in the Premier League, the Tigers have stuttered in recent weeks, and have failed to win any of their last six across all competitions. Despite the narrow 1-0 scoreline against Fulham last time out, Hull were comprehensively beaten. They managed just five shots worth 0.16 xG, while the hosts accrued 18 shots and four big chances worth 1.38 xG.

By contrast, Brentford’s performances have been much more encouraging, despite their loss against Liverpool. They currently sit sixth in the Premier League standings, having pulled off some notable results such as a 3-0 win over Spurs, and another 3-0 victory against Chelsea.

This is a clash between two of the most ill-disciplined sides in the Premier League this season, so cards are naturally a target. Brentford rank top of the charts for total cards accrued this campaign, with 20 yellow cards and three reds. Hull rank second.

The Tigers have been carded at least twice in all seven of their league matches this campaign, averaging 3.14 cards per game. Meanwhile, Brentford were shown two red cards against Liverpool last time out, in addition to four yellows. This selection has landed in five of their last six Premier League games. Robert Jones is the designated referee here, and he is likely to have his work cut out.

On the opposite side, Mohamed Belloumi is the danger man for Hull. He has really come into his element this campaign, and Belloumi already has three league goals to his name. For context, the Algerian international managed just two goals in 22 Championship appearances last season.

Belloumi is averaging 3.15 shots per 90 in the league which is comfortably the highest of any regular starter in the Hull squad, and he has landed this selection in six of his seven appearances overall. Over half of his efforts have come from outside the box, which shows how he isn’t short of confidence to try his luck from distance, which bodes well for this selection.

Brentford will be missing two key players in midfield, but as some consolation, Kevin Schade looks set to be available again after concerns of a shoulder injury.

The winger was taken off early against Aston Villa, but he was fit enough to feature in the second-half last weekend. Schade has started the new season in excellent form, and he already has three league goals under his belt. Interestingly, they have all come when playing away.

The German international is averaging 2.81 shots per 90 this season, with 41% of those efforts hitting the target, and this looks like a favourable matchup to target him again.

It was Yehor Yarmoliuk and Vitaly Janelt who were sent off for the Bees - both regular starters in midfield. That leaves Keith Andrews with a bit of a selection headache for this fixture, but Mamadou Sangare is likely to return to the starting eleven alongside Mathias Jensen.

The Mali international is averaging 2.44 fouls per 90 since arriving in the Premier League, landing this selection in three of his four starts. He has been used sporadically by Keith Andrews so far, but this is a real opportunity for him to try and lock down a regular starting spot. Sangare is a player who likes to be aggressive in his tackles and win the ball back quickly - he had an average of 1.48 fouls per 90 for Lens last season, which makes this price appeal.
