Aberdeen head to Romania for the second leg of this Europa League Qualifier after a 2-2 draw at the Pittodrie Stadium last time out.

My Bet Builder from the first leg won at odds of 3.90 last Thursday; the focus now turns to keeping the run going with this week’s selections.

FCSB to Win

The Red and Blues appeared to be on course for a victory at Pittodrie last Thursday before blowing a two-goal lead to draw 2-2. However, I don’t think Elias Charalambous’ side will make the same mistakes on home soil, particularly if they can avoid another red card.

FCSB have avoided defeat in six of their last eight Europa League matches at home, winning five of those contests.

Aberdeen have already lost to both Hearts and Celtic this season, and I suspect FCSB will have enough in their locker to get past the Dons inside 90 minutes this time around.

Daniel Birligea to Score Anytime

I successfully backed Daniel Birligea to score in last week’s first leg and I’m more than happy to side with the same selection again this Thursday. The Romanian striker appears to have rediscovered his rhythm following a period on the sidelines, scoring four goals across his last five appearances, including a brace in FCSB’s home game with Drita in the previous round.

Aberdeen have looked really shaky at the back across their opening four games of the season, conceding exactly two goals in three of those contests. Thus, Birligea looks well placed to expose the visitors’ defensive fragilities for the second week in succession.

  • Aberdeen have lost each of their opening two Scottish Premiership matches of the season.

  • Aberdeen have conceded two goals in three of their four matches across all competitions this season.

  • FCSB have lost just two of their last six matches, winning both legs of their Europa League third round qualifier with Drita.

  • FCSB have scored two goals or more in four of their last six matches.

Following last week’s 2-2 draw in Scotland, FCSB and Aberdeen will reconvene for the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie in Romania on Thursday night.

The hosts are firm 1.73 favourites with the visitors 4.20 outsider,s while the draw can be backed at 3.60.

🔴 FCSB Struggling For Consistency

Overall, FCSB’s start to the season has been inconsistent, with defensive issues contributing to them dropping points and throwing away leads. The Bucharest-based club suffered their fourth league defeat of the season on Sunday when slumping to a 2-0 loss at home to newly-promoted Arges. That latest setback has left the Red and Blues languishing way down in 13th place in the Romanian SuperLiga, 14 points off top spot. However, it is worth noting that Elias Charalambous made six changes to his starting XI on Sunday, which would suggest that he had one eye on this week’s return match with Aberdeen.

There have been a combined total of five red cards shown across FCSB’s last 10 matches in all competitions, including last week’s first leg with Aberdeen.

Spirited Display From Dons

Aberdeen staged a spirited comeback to come from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against FCSB in last week’s first leg.

Jimmy Thelin’s team kicked off their Scottish Premiership campaign with back-to-back 2-0 losses against both Hearts and Celtic before claiming their first win of the season with a 3-0 success away at Morton in the Scottish League Cup.

The Dons should be the fresher of the two teams here after their game with Dundee United was postponed at the weekend to allow them to prepare for this week's second leg.

Aberdeen have picked up multiple bookings in three of their four matches across all competitions this season, including four during last week’s first leg with FCSB.

📊 FCSB v FCSB H2H

Last week's first leg in Scotland was the first-ever meeting between the two clubs, with Aberdeen earning a 2-2 draw thanks to a last-gasp equaliser.
