Ruben Dias committed his first two fouls of the season against Manchester United last time out and his battle against Viktor Gyokeres really stands out to me here. The days of Manchester City’s backline being spectators are long gone and Guardiola’s back four regularly find themselves under intense pressure, especially in games like this.

Dias didn’t feature in this fixture last season which may have something to do with the five goals that City conceded at the Emirates last term. Dias did commit a foul in the 2-2 draw between the sides at the Etihad from 11 duels, the majority of which were against Kai Havertz who was hauled down twice in that game. Dias also received a yellow card for that infringement.

Viktor Gyokeres is a real handful. He may not look the sharpest when he has the ball but his physicality and power make him a real threat to any Premier League centre back. I think we could see a battle between him and Dias similar to the one Gyokeres had with De Ligt on the opening weekend of the season. De Ligt contested 15 duels in that game and committed a foul with Gyokeres having five foul involvements overall.

City still play with quite a high line so you would anticipate there being opportunities for Gyokeres to run into channels which is where he likes to operate. He can drag Dias out to those channels when City’s fullbacks are high up the pitch which is naturally an uncomfortable area of the pitch for Dias.

There is real value when backing this selection with Bet365, the exact same market is priced as low as 1.4 with other comparable bookmakers.
