Both Aston Villa and Tottenham have seen a high number of goals both for and against this season, and look set to continue this form. Villa have scored an average of 2.19 goals per game this season (2.69 at Villa Park), whilst still conceding an average of 1.37 (1.15 at home). All of their last five games have seen Over 2.5 goals land, with three of them seeing five or more goals.

Spurs have seen similar averages (2.12 goals for and 1.50 goals against) so far in their Premier League campaign. Both these stats increase when isolating just their away fixtures, rising to 2.17 and 1.67 respectively. Similar to Villa, Spurs have seen Over 2.5 goals in all of their last five Premier League outings.

Villa and Spurs have seen the both teams score plenty of times this season. Eight of Villa’s last ten fixtures saw them score and concede at least one goal, nine for Spurs. Finally, their last meeting also ended with both teams finding the back of the net. It looks highly likely that those trends will continue on Sunday.

All of Villa’s last seven games, over all competitions, saw at least one goal scored in the first half of the match. Five of those seven saw two or more first half goals. If the Premier League was to be ranked by first half goals, Villa would sit in second place with 29, just one behind Arsenal. Overall, their games have seen an average of 1.56 first half goals.

Spurs have scored 22 first half goals so far this Premier League campaign, ranking them sixth in the league. They have also conceded 17, with a similar overall average to Villa (1.50). Clearly both teams enjoy attacking the game from the outset, especially Villa who would rank first in the league if all games ended at half time (13W 8D 6L). For reference this is stronger than the actual league leaders’ (Liverpool) first half record (9W 14D 4L).

Ollie Watkins has been on fire for Villa this season, proving himself to be one of the best attackers in the league. He has scored 21 goals across all competitions this season (16 in the Premier League), and is poised to score his most goals in one season with his current record standing at 26 goals.

Unsurprisingly, Watkins ranks first out of any regular starting Villa player in shots and shots on target per match, averaging 3.21 and 1.47 respectively. In all of his last five Premier League games, he has taken at least one shot on target, managing two or more shots on target in four of those matches.

Watkins has a strong record against Spurs too, having scored and taken three shots in his last outing against them. Adding him into your Aston Villa v Tottenham bet builder would be a great way to secure some solid value.

John McGinn is often described as a walking yellow card, and is certainly living up to that name this season. McGinn has picked up seven bookings from 27 matches in the Premier League, the joint highest of any Villa player.
