Atalanta v Club Brugge Best Bet Preview

Oliver Shaw
Fuelled by a passion for sport and a sharp instinct for uncovering patterns in data, beating the bookies became the perfect outlet for my competitive streak. Now I take pleasure in sharing my finds with ABC punters. I enjoy finding niche angles and betting value in a range of markets and leagues, my favourite being in Serie A.
Both Atalanta and Club Brugge pride themselves on their attack, and while the bookies have factored that into their pricing, making the overs markets unattractive, it bodes well for what we can expect of this game.
The pair had very contrasting experiences in their Champions League openers; Club Brugge stormed past Monaco in an impressive 4-1 victory, while Atalanta slumped to a 4-0 humbling at the Parc des Princes.
Adding extra spice will be the memory of last season, when Brugge won both legs against La Dea to knock them out of the competition.

📈 Atalanta v Club Brugge Form & Stats
All eyes were on Atalanta ahead of this season, as they entered the first campaign of their post-Gasperini era after nine seasons under the Italian coach. The early signs weren’t great, with La Dea opening their account with back-to-back draws against newly-promoted Pisa and relegation-threatened Parma.
However, since then, Juric has managed to turn things around, recording back-to-back wins, and most recently a well-earned 1-1 draw against Juventus. That clash against the Bianconeri represented their first real domestic test of the season, although, on the continental stage, a 4-0 loss to PSG highlighted their vulnerabilities.
Still, that humbling remains their only defeat of the season, and given PSG’s supremacy and their comparable dismantling of Inter in last year’s final, it’s tough to say how much we can read into it.
Club Brugge have recorded five wins, two draws, and two losses in the Belgian Pro League to date, leaving them six points behind league-leaders USG.
It’s no mystery why that gap between Brugge and their rivals has emerged; while their defensive metrics certainly aren’t disastrous, they have shipped 11 goals and 10.6xGA - both more than double USG’s totals.
Brugge have already produced some serious excitement in the UCL this season, battering Rangers 7-1 on aggregate to seal their place amongst Europe’s elite. Nicky Hayen’s men followed that up by thrashing Monaco 4-1 to open their league-phase account.
