Barella’s average of 1.50 fouls drawn per 90 minutes makes him one of Inter’s most prolific in the department, which will come as no surprise to anyone who’s watched him play given his technique and quick feet.

Andrich, amongst others, is likely to be tasked with dealing with the Italian which is of significance given his impressive average of 2.03 fouls committed.

As well as representing value in the fouls drawn market, Barella is also an assured option in the shots department, particularly when facing tougher opposition against whom Inter are forced to shoot from range.

Consequently, Barella has fired off 2 or more shots on 7 occasions this season, including games against Atalanta, Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Man City.

He’s averaging 1.70 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A, and with this game predicted to be a very open affair, backing him for a single shot is a sensible option.

Bastoni has been Inter’s second most frequent sinner (after Dumfries), averaging 1.59 fouls per 90 minutes in Serie A. Although it’d definitely be harsh to suggest he’s struggled in the Champions League, he’s certainly found himself penalised more often, averaging 2.23 fouls per 90 in the competition.

He’s sinned at least once in 15 out of 16 starts for Inter this season, only evading the seemingly almost inevitable outcome, when taken off early as Inter cruised to a 5-0 win over Hellas Verona.

Nathan Tella, who has averaged 3.72 fouls won per 90 in his limited Bundesliga gametime and is as short as 1.1 to draw a single foul, is expected to be his counterpart.

With Bayer Leverkusen suffering a minor injury crisis up front, Wirtz has really lived up to the billing, playing in a slightly more advanced role in recent matches.

The German is averaging 1.67 shots on target per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga and has tested the opposition keeper at least once in 9 of his last 11 starts for Bayer Leverkusen.

Wirtz has particularly excelled in the Champions League where he’s already bagged 5 goals putting him on par with the likes of Haaland, Kane and Gyokeres. In total he’s fired off 8 shots on goal in his 5 UCL games including at least one in each.

Inter come into this clash unbeaten in their last 13 games across all competitions, having recorded 11 wins across the period. Since the start of the season, The Nerazurri have lost just one match, against Milan, despite having faced some tough opposition including Arsenal and Man City. Notably, they’re also the only side to have not conceded in the Champions League this season.

Leverkusen too have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season although their defensive vulnerabilities were exposed in their last UCL clash when they were on the wrong end of a 4-0 battering at Anfield. With the exception of Liverpool, Leverkusen have had a fairly easy run in the competition, facing RB Salzburg, Brest, Feyenoord and Milan. Inter will surely offer a sterner test.

No Inter player has come close to replicating Thuram’s average of 1.59 shots on target per 90 and he’s more that stepped up following Martinez’s drop in form.

The Frenchman has been Inter’s most outstanding player this season and has 10 goals and 3 assists in the league to show for it. In doing so, Thuram has tested the keeper in 11 out of his 14 league games as well as in 9 of his last 11 across all competitions.

Bayer Leverkusen are averaging 4.2 shots on target conceded per 90 in the Champions League to date including at least 5 in their only two relatively tough games against Milan and Liverpool.

Nathan Tella could represent the most value on the field here and has been priced incredibly generously to fire off two or more shots. This is most likely due to the fact he’s earned the majority of his minutes as a wingback, but is predicted to start up front on Tuesday given the absences of Boniface and Schick.

We got a taste of what this might look like as Leverkusen clashed with St. Pauli when Tella found the back of the net before it was disallowed by VAR. Just before that, Tella fired off two shots on goal in just half an hour off the bench against Bayern Munich.
