Demarai Gray has returned to English football after a few seasons in the Saudi Pro League. He was quite bright in his first season for Al Ettifaq in registering seven goal contributions across his 23 appearances whilst averaging 2.24 shots per 90. 

These performances dropped off in his second season as he fell down the pecking order but he still managed to maintain an average of 1.79 shots per 90 across his 24 appearances in the Saudi Pro League. 

Demarai Gray’s performances and underlying numbers from when he was last in the Premier League suggest that he can be a really important player for Birmingham this season. Gray had 59 shots across his 33 appearances for Everton during the 22/23 PL season (2.11 per 90) showing that he’s more than capable of playing at this level, if not higher.

Birmingham had 340 shots across their 23 home games in League One last season (14.7 per game).
