Bodo Glimt v Sandefjord Best Bets
This fixture looks ripe for goals. Unlike some teams who might approach playing Glimt with caution and try to frustrate them, Sandefjord know their limitations and that any chance they have of getting a positive result will depend on their offence carrying them. The last five Sandefjord games have gone over 2.5 goals and they’ve conceded an average of nearly two goals per game in those affairs. Bodo Glimt could cover the over 2.5 goal line on their own but Sandefjord will carry a threat that must be respected. The way Glimt are suddenly playing it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the visitors get on the scoreboard. They do have some fast counter-attacking players such as Danilo Al-Saed and a finisher in Alexander Ruud Tveter. Over 2.5 goals looks like a safe play overall in what should be quite an open game of football.
Because of the higher goalscoring potential, Bodo Glimt -1 handicap could also be considered at odds of 1.73. Glimt have covered this handicap on four occasions this season with recent wins vs Kristiansund (4-2) and Tromso (4-0) standing out. Even if Sandefjord score this is a handicap that Glimt can cover with little fuss. The visitors’ defence is vulnerable and this is a great chance for the defending champions to bounce back and register a convincing win.
⚔️ Bodo Glimt vs Sandefjord Head-to-Head
Bodo Glimt have won seven of the last eight league meetings including the last five consecutively. They tend to get the job done v this Sandefjord side and in recent years they have seriously racked up the goals in doing so. Last year they won this fixture 4-3 at home and 5-2 on the road. Prior to that, they beat Sandefjord 4-1, so in the last three meetings Glimt have scored 13 goals.
There was a time when Sandefjord just tried to contain Kjetil Knutsen’s men but they have adopted a different approach recently and have decided to fight fire with fire. It has been more entertaining and Sandefjord have improved their offensive threat, but ultimately the outcome has been the same.
📊 Bodo Glimt Form and Stats
The defending Eliteserien champions look like they need the summer break to come as quickly as possible. They won seven of their first eight league games with the only blemish a 1-1 draw at home to big rivals Molde, which at the time just felt like a decent point. However, a shock 1-0 loss away to Ham Kam and then a poor 2-2 draw at home to KFUM Oslo at the weekend has generated some questions. Glimt still have the joint-best offensive and defensive records in the Eliteserien though, scoring 23 goals and conceding seven.
They have suddenly looked more vulnerable though and on another day might have lost to a newly promoted side at home last time out. It is worth mentioning that the reigning champions have overperformed their xG by over eight goals already, a rate that we should not expect them to sustain. They have some brilliant individual players and this type of quality almost needs to be factored in. Their xGA defensive metric remains the best in the Eliteserien and in general, they’ve had full control of games, apart from in recent outings.
📊 Sandefjord Form and Stats
One of the big favourites for relegation find themselves second bottom of the table, but perhaps Sandefjord aren’t quite as bad as they’re being perceived. They have at least one game in hand compared to some clubs and that fixture is against bottom-of-the-table Tromso.
The big problem has been away from home where they’ve lost four out of five games and failed to keep a clean sheet. Their underlying metrics are actually quite respectful. They are mid table for xGA at 1.41 per game and at the other end of the field, only four teams have a better xGA per game figure (1.22).
