Michael Gregoritsch to Score Anytime

Gregoritsch is a pretty underrated striker at this level and has netted 21 goals across his 67 caps for Austria, two of which have come in his two starts during the qualifying campaign.

He netted 11 goals across his 19 appearances for Austria in 2024 which is a record that suggests he can cause Bosnia some issues here. Gregoritsch hasn’t been the most prolific at club level in recent seasons, but is still an integral part of this Austrian attack and can pop up with a goal in a game which should be pretty well contested.

Both Teams to Score

It’s hard to split these sides at the moment, Austria may catch your eye more on paper due to their impressive campaign in the European Championships last season but Bosnia have been just as impressive during the qualifying campaign so far.

The home side have won all four of their qualifying matches so far, scoring 10 goals across these matches and conceding just one. Three of these games were against San Marino and Cyprus, but Bosnia also managed to claim a 1-0 away win over Romania which would suggest that they can cause Austria problems here.

BTTS is always a good angle to back with Austria, they’ve won all three of their qualifying matches so far. They won two of these to nil against Cyprus and San Marino, but that is to be expected with the quality advantage that Austria have over those nations. They saw BTTS in their win over Romania at home in their opening qualifying match.

  • Both of these sides have 100% records to this point in World Cup Qualifying.

  • Austria reached the knockout stages of the European Championship last summer under the tutelage of Ralf Rangnick who is still the head coach.

  • Bosnia finished bottom of their Nations League A group which also featured Germany, Hungary and Netherlands. They didn't win any of their six matches, suggesting that they really struggle against this calibre of opposition.

🟣 Massive Opportunity for Bosnia

Bosnia have recovered from a rather bleak Nations League campaign. They failed to win any of their six matches in the Nations League A group alongside Hungary, Netherlands and Germany. The level was always a bit too high for them in truth, and this played out with Bosnia losing four of their six matches and conceding 17 goals in the process.

They’re much more at home with the standard of this group, and their start in qualifying has given them a real chance of featuring at the World Cup next summer. Bosnia have won all four of their qualifying matches so far with their most notable win coming against Romania on the road which is a result that appears to have aided their confidence.

🔴 Rangnick Leading Austria in the Right Direction

Ralf Rangnick is one of my favourite managers on the international circuit. He wants his team to always play with intensity and ferocity which is an approach that you rarely see on the international stage, with many managers favouring a conservative approach with so much pressure surrounding the international games.

Austria have won all three of their qualifying games so far, only conceding one goal across these games. This is easily their toughest test in the group up against a Bosnia side that haven’t put a foot wrong up until this point. Austria will see this as a real opportunity to qualify for the World Cup, they’re the highest ranked side in the group and also have the most experience in an international tournament of any other side in Group H.
