PSG v Bayern Munich
Joao Cancelo moved to Bayern Munich in the January transfer window in a transfer that surprised many. The Portuguese full-back had been one of the best defenders in the world last season but a dip in form and reports of a bad attitude meant he was shown the door at Manchester City.
Cancelo has made two appearances for his new club. He was substituted in both matches and his early withdrawal in the last game against Bochum suggests he will play the full 90 against PSG. He made two fouls in his last match and he will be tasked with keeping Messi or Neymar quiet here (depending on which flank he plays on).
When Cancelo last started against PSG for Manchester City, he received a yellow card. just of the 12 players who have played as the wide defensive players against PSG in the Champions League haven’t made a foul. These are the players that have either played as full-backs or the wide centre-backs when the team uses wing-backs.
The last time PSG met Bayern in this competition the starting full-backs across the two matches had two, two, one and one fouls to their name.

PSG also force a lot of fouls in the centre of the pitch. Galtier has deployed his attacking talent in numerous different roles this season and Messi and Neymar often link up in central areas. Both have the tendency to seek out pockets of space on the pitch so Kimmich and Goretzka will be busy trying to mark them here.
Goretzka has made the 3rd most fouls for Bayern this season and he will play an integral role on Tuesday night. He made one foul in 33 minutes before getting injured the last time he started against PSG. The last time these two sides met, Bayern’s central-midfielders combined for seven fouls.
Rabiot and Locatelli made two and three fouls in PSG’s last Champions League game against Juventus. The other centre-midfielder for Juve was Fagioli and he was booked for his only foul of the match.
PSG v Bayern Munich
Sergio Ramos came off the bench and made two fouls in PSG’s 3-1 defeat to Monaco at the weekend. The former Madrid man is a fiery character and is no stranger to gamesmanship in these big ties. Ramos earned a reputation at Madrid for thriving in the big matches and he will be amongst the action here.
Bayern have great pace on the counter and Ramos could be forced into making a cynical foul at some stage in the game in order to prevent a scoring opportunity. He is averaging 1.2 fouls per 90 minutes played in Ligue 1 this season and should be even busier when coming up against the might of the German champions.
