Walsall v Chesterfield
Kick Off: Friday 16th May at 20:00
Competition: League Two Play-Offs
After a disastrous end to the season, Walsall have put themselves into a commanding fixture going into the second leg, following a 0-2 win in Chesterfield.
The first leg was a cagey affair, but the Spireites will have to open up to get back into this one. We could see plenty of goals.
⭐ Walsall v Chesterfield Best Bet
➡️ Over 1.5 Chesterfield Goals with bet365 @ 2.63
There was very little between the two sides in the first leg, with Walsall scoring from two of their first three shots, one of which was a penalty from a rash challenge. Chesterfield had twice gone close to scoring prior to The Saddlers taking the lead, and had some good chances from crosses in the second half.
The Spireites only need two goals to get back into the game, a feat they have managed eight times on the road this season. Walsall to give teams chances at home too, and despite them finish fourth in League Two, only four teams conceded more goals at home than Mat Sadler’s side. They have conceded two or more goals on eight occasion at home.

🔍 Walsall v Chesterfield Players to Watch
🔴 George Hall
This bet landed for us within the first 10 seconds of the first leg, and we think at 2/1 it remains good value for the second leg.
Hall was very lively on Saturday, operating as one of the attacking midfielders in behind Jamille Matt. He had clearly been instructed to gamble on Matt winning knockdowns, making numerous line-breaking runs both from direct passes and in general play. His speed was an issue for the Spireites' rather cumbersome centre-back pairing.
➡️ George Hall to have 1+ Shots on Target @ 3.0 with bet365 ↔️
🔵 Ash Palmer
Palmer has become a first-team regular since the start of March, starting 16 games, in which time Chesterfield have tasted defeat on just four occasions.
Palmer is a clear target from set pieces, and in those 16 starts he has registered an attempt on goal in 10 of those games, including six in his last three appearances. In the first leg, Palmer saw a downward header flick over off the bar and a wayward volley blocked.
➡️ Ash Palmer to have 1+ Shots @ 1.67 with bet365 ↔️

💻 Walsall v Chesterfield Form and Tactics
Walsall seemed to find an effective way to play against Chesterfield, despite their poor form to end the season. It of course helped, that they were gifted the perfect opportunity to take the lead thanks to a clumsy tackle by Liam Mandeville, and that they scored from their next shot, too. This allowed them to employ a low block and waste as much time as possible for the remaining 50-odd minutes.
Chesterfield seemed to create most of their chances from crosses into the box or from set pieces, Tom Naylor spurning perhaps the best of those when seeing his headed saved from six yards. They do not need to go all out from the off, as we suspect one goal may see a lot of doubt creep back in to the Walsall players and supporters.
