• Degerfors have the worst form in the Allsvenskan, losing their last seven matches

• Norrköping won for the first time in six games last weekend, beating Värnamo

• Both teams tend to be involved in high-scoring affairs, both averaging 3.4 goals in total in their games

Degerfors extended their run of defeats last week, having now lost seven games on the bounce. Despite being under new management, their form has remained miserable, finding themselves in the relegation playoff spot (14th), just a point above Öster who also keep losing.

Norrköping are inconsistent, but managed a win against bottom-of-the-table Värnamo in their last game, taking a 3-1 victory at home and pushing up to 11th in the table. 

Despite the form coming into this game, Degerfors are favourites, giving 1.91 for the home win. There is plenty of value in backing the away side in the double chance market here. The bookies expect goals, with the over 2.5 line sitting at 1.65, while the under gives us odds of 2.10.

🔴 Degerfors Haplessly Blunt

Degerfors have, after a red-hot start to the season, spiralled uncontrollably into today’s miserable outfit. They have not taken a single point since the 15th May, over two months of despair, conceding 20 goals and only scoring four, losing seven consecutive matches. 

The in-form GAIS beat them handily last week, walking away with a 3-0 victory despite an even encounter. Degerfors actually won the xG battle 1.4 to 1.2, although GAIS created more big chances (4-1). Degerfors lacked sharpness in front of goal, which is nothing new, while gifting their opponents two goals. 

Degerfors are, mainly due to their recent miserable run of form, the worst defensive team in the league, having conceded 2.3 goals per match, while only scoring 1.1 goals per game. The arrival of new manager Henok Goitom has had little to no effect, having lost 3-0 two games in a row.

⚪ Norrköping Back to Winning Ways

After a pretty miserable run of form, being winless in five and only winning once in their prior nine matches, they finally managed to get back to winning ways against bottom side Värnamo.

It was a close encounter (1.80 – 1.73 in xG) where the offensive quality of Norrköping shone through, the league’s second top scorer in Totte Nyman bagging a brace and Traustason scoring an excellent lob after a sublime first touch. 

Despite Norrköping’s inconsistency, having scored in seven of their nine previous matches but also conceding in each of those, they always stand a chance, considering their attacking prowess. Against weaker opposition, they tend to fare well, having beaten Värnamo (16th) twice, Öster (15th) Sirius (13th), Halmstad (12th), totalling five wins for the season.

📊 Degerfors v Norrköping H2H

Earlier in the season, Degerfors managed to beat Norrköping on away soil, despite the home side having the better of the chances (1.44 – 1.14 xG). A Leon Hien goal in the 88th minute sealed the deal, in what was actually Degerfors’s most recent win. Since then, the performances have been way below par, being much too open defensively and not threatening enough.

The Degerfors win in May was the first one over Norrköping in recent years, with this weekend’s visitors winning the previous three head-to-head encounters.
