Both teams can still qualify, and while Denmark may qualify with a draw, Serbia definitely require a win to see them through to the knockout stages.
The Danes will probably feel like they have done enough in their two matches to deserve a little more out of them than just two points. They ceded control of the match against Slovenia and were fortunate to grab a lifeline late on with Luka Jovic’s equaliser.
Serbia are actually fairly fortunate to be in a position where qualification is still in their hands. It looked all over for them when they were 1-0 down to Slovenia after 95 minutes.
Denmark v Serbia Best Bets
Denmark look to be rightful favourites ahead of this match. There has been a definite difference in quality between their performances and the ones that Serbia have turned in during the tournament so far.
Both teams will play very similar formations and that could have the effect of cancelling each other out to an extent, so there probably won’t be a great deal of goals to get excited about here either. Denmark at 2.20 to win looks like a good bet, with correct scores of 1-0 or 2-1 at prices of 8.0 and 8.50 also looking tempting to back.
In terms of the best value, Morten Hjulmand looks very overpriced to have one or more shots. The other recommended bet in this match is Aleksandar Mitrovic to be fouled two or more times, which also looks worth backing, especially against big, physical defenders like Jannik Vestergaard, Andreas Christensen, and Joachim Andersen.

📊 Denmark Form and Stats
Denmark came into the tournament in decent form following friendly wins over Sweden and Norway.
There have been calls from the Danish public to take the handbrake off a bit more to Kasper Hjulmand, who is seen as being overly negative in his tactical approach, something that may sound familiar to England fans, but the performance in the last match against England was full of positive signs.
Morten Hjulmand, no relation to the manager, has taken to international football like a duck to water, and Jonas Wind has been impressive. Those two players were probably the key gambles in terms of team selection and both have repaid the faith of their manager.
Denmark have edged both matches that they have played in terms of xG/chances created and that should leave them in good stead for this match.
📊 Serbia Form and Stats
Serbia are very fortunate to still be in the tournament.
While they haven’t been bad in terms of getting shots away, they haven’t managed to score in open play and they haven’t generated a huge number of clear-cut chances either.
The partnership between Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic has seen flourishes but hasn’t convinced in terms of cutting edge. The manager is having to build the rest of the team in a certain shape to accommodate the two stars, and there are thoughts that it may be restricting Serbia from a tactical perspective.
There haven’t been many goals in Serbia’s recent matches, after being involved in some goal-heavy matches in qualification.
⚔️ Denmark v Serbia Head-to-Head
The history between these two nations from a footballing perspective is rather brief. They have only met on three occasions in the past.
The most recent meeting was a friendly in 2022. Despite its status as a friendly, it could be fairly informative as it featured a lot of the players that are likely to take to the field in this match. As many as ten Serbian starters in the friendly are also likely to play in this match, with Denmark likely to start 6 of the same XI.
The result of the friendly was a comfortable 3-0 win for Denmark, with Joakim Maehle, Jesper Lindstrom, and Christian Eriksen on the scoresheet.
The other two meetings were in European Championship qualifiers and both were also comfortable Denmark wins, 2-0 in Copenhagen and an impressive 3-1 win in Belgrade. However, these qualifiers were in 2016 and 2017 so aren’t quite as relevant in terms of the players playing in those matches, but it does show the superiority that Denmark have enjoyed over Serbia.
