I thought Celtic would have been priced shorter than they are to win on Sunday, so I’m more than happy to back them to get the job done at Tannadice.

The Hoops appear to be building some real momentum in their chase of Hearts at the top of the table, and I can’t see them stumbling this weekend. Under Martin O’Neill’s management, that has often been the case - the Celtic legend has overseen 12 wins from 15 Scottish Premiership matches this season, losing just once.

One of those victories was a commanding 4-0 triumph over Dundee United at the turn of the year. While I don’t expect quite such a dominant scoreline this time around, I do fancy Celtic to see off a Dundee United side with just two wins from their last 10 top-flight fixtures. 

The hosts will still be licking their wounds after their late collapse against arch-rivals Dundee last weekend. What’s more, there’s little left for Jim Goodwin’s side to play for this season. The Terrors are stuck in no man’s land in the table - a top-six finish is almost certainly out of reach, and they are unlikely to be dragged into a relegation scrap.

High-scoring affairs have been a regular feature of the Hoops’ Scottish Premiership matches this term, with over 2.5 goals landing in 20 of their 30 league outings - the highest tally in the division. That trend is partly down to a lack of defensive solidity compared to what we have come to expect in years gone by, with Martin O'Neill’s men without a clean sheet in each of their last six top-flight outings.

Therefore, Dundee United, who have scored at least once in seven of their last nine matches in all competitions, could land a blow on the Bhoys’ backline - even if it is only a consolation strike. Even if Jim Goodwin’s hosts fail to get on the scoresheet, Celtic are more than capable of covering the over 2.5 goal line on their own - as shown in their 4-0 win over Dundee United back in January, as well as last week’s 3-1 victory over Motherwell.

Benjamin Nygren has been my go-to player in this market all season, and for good reason. The Celtic attacking midfielder has racked up an impressive 15 goals across 30 Scottish Premiership appearances this season, while also chipping in with a further four assists for good measure.

A closer look shows Nygren has netted 10 of those 15 league goals across his last 15 outings, propelling him towards the top of the scoring charts - with only Tawanda Maswanhise (16) of Motherwell finding the net more often this term.

Now set to face a Dundee United side that has struggled for form in recent months and has kept just four clean sheets in 30 league matches this season, Nygren looks well placed to register another goal involvement. It’s also worth noting that when these two sides last met around the turn of the year, the Celtic ace provided an assist in a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Amar Fatah has proven to be something of a shot machine in the Scottish Premiership this season, and I would expect him to register at least two efforts against Celtic on Sunday.

The Dundee United forward is averaging a healthy 2.43 shots per game in the Scottish top flight this term, with 1.14 of those hitting the target. During last week’s Dundee derby, Fatah scored with one of his six attempts. In Dundee United’s league fixture prior to that against Kilmarnock, he also found the net with one of his three efforts.

Looking further back, the 27-year-old has pulled the trigger multiple times in 10 of his last 15 Scottish Premiership appearances, including Dundee United’s 2-1 win over Celtic at Tannadice back in December. While Celtic have continued to grind out results under Martin O'Neill this season, they remain prone to defensive lapses and are without a clean sheet in each of their last six league matches. I would therefore expect the hosts to carve out some opportunities on Sunday, with Fatah looking the most likely candidate to register another 2+ shots.
