Jong AZ v Telstar
Jong AZ are very erratic this season, something that is probably quite common for the academy teams, but a great 4-0 victory over NAC Breda was followed by a pretty surprising 3-0 defeat at the hands of FC Den Bosch. In that game against Den Bosch they were without their best players, who'd joined the first team that weekend. Telstar on the other hand is on the up, with three victories from the last three games. Nevertheless, the league victories were a bit flattered and the cup victory against an amateur team was as expected.
Because the game is on Monday, Jong AZ will have all the fringe players from the first team available, so they will probably field their strongest line up. They did lose centre back Maxim Dekker to the first team for the rest of this year, but midfielders like Peer Koopmeiners, Fedde de Jong en Zico Buurmeester should be available and that makes the team significantly stronger. Several first team strikers returned from injuries as well, which means that Yusuf Barasi, who seemed to get close to the first team, but couldn't quite make it, was relegated back to Jong AZ.
Although Telstar's confidence has grown, I doubt they'll really have a chance against the probably strongest Jong AZ team you can get.
Jong FC Utrecht v PEC Zwolle
PEC Zwolle broke a pretty bad run in the second division last week, with their victory over league leaders Heracles Almelo. It was a necessary victory, after winning only one of the previous four games and giving away the lead to Heracles. They are still close to the top of the table and in full fight for direct promotion, so facing Jong FC Utrecht, probably the worst team of this league this year, should be positive. After 11 games, Utrecht are bottom of the table in the Eerste Divisie, so an ideal opponent to add another victory to Zwolle's tally.
Zwolle are the favourites against Jong FC Utrecht, but just like the other academy teams, Jong Utrecht might have some fringe players from the first team joining the side like Arthur Zagre and Derensli Fernandes. Albert Lottin is also back from suspension and he and Fernandes are the top goalscorers at the Jong Utrecht side, so they should have some more power going forward.
PEC Zwolle have got a lot of quality going forward as well. They have had a bit of a bad run scoring, but Lennart Thy, in his good days a mid-table top flight striker, finally got off the mark with two decent goals against Heracles. As Utrecht will also have their best attacking players back in the side, I suspect there will be goals in this game, so I'd go on overs.
