I think these pre-season tournaments are a great chance to assess the potential impact of new signings and I’ve earmarked two new faces to the Premier League to make an instant impact in this opening game of the mini-tournament. 

Eli Kroupi is a player I’m really excited about seeing in the Premier League, the 19-year-old was signed by Bournemouth during the January transfer window, but spent the second half of last season on loan at Lorient. He scored 23 goals across his 32 appearances in Ligue 2, finishing the campaign as the league’s top scorer. Ligue 2 may not be the most competitive of leagues, but it is a pool for talent with the likes of Bryan Mbuemo, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante just a few of the names that have progressed from strong performances in the lower reaches of French football.

Thierno Barry to Score Anytime

Thierno Barry is a player that could be really suited to the Premier League with his strength and power, which are traits that also make him an excellent fit for David Moyes. Barry scored 11 goals across his 37 appearances for Villarreal last season, which is a steady record for a side that battled to finish in a Champions League spot in La Liga last season. He suits Everton’s style with his ability to be dominant in the air and act as a focal point for the Toffees.

🔵 Everton Yet to Win in Pre-Season

Everton have already played a few friendlies against Blackburn and Accrington Stanley, but this will be the start of their more serious pre-season preparations. David Moyes’ side didn’t actually manage to win either of their games against lower league opponents, but there isn’t too much we can read into thi,s seeing as the side was rotated heavily in both games with plenty of young players also taking part.

This is Bournemouth’s first official game of pre-season and it is a tournament that they will feel that they can win, seeing as they finished the highest of any side taking part in the mini-tournament in the 24/25 campaign.

Andoni Iraola will be eager to see how his side adapts to the exits of Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, who were so impressive last season, but in my opinion, Iraola is the most important person in this Bournemouth setup and his system should account for the losses that Bournemouth have suffered in the window so far.

Bournemouth and Everton faced off three times during the 24/25 campaign with Bournemouth coming out on top in all three games. 

Two of those wins for Bournemouth were to nil, while the other game was a 3-2 thriller in which the Cherries had to come from two goals down to steal a win late on at Goodison Park.
