⚔️ Gameweek 24 Review – 102 Points (87 Average)
100 club! Half of my defence scored, and half didn’t. Raya (3pts) and Milenkovic did their part, but Dalot and Collins with a combined 2 points was not ideal! In midfield, the king Salah (58pts) is responsible for over 50% of my points, just incredible. Palmer (6pts) is back amongst the points after 2 blanks with an assist and 2 bonus points, but Mbeumo (2pts) didn’t reach my expectations, with Brentford not scoring against a very leaky and depleted Spurs side at home. Luis Diaz (5pts) disappointed me in a DGW where Liverpool scored 4 goals, he has to go I think.
For the first time I think all season, my entire forward line blanked. Isak, Wissa and Vardy with 5 points total is a concern moving forward, but no knee jerks just yet, it’s only one game week. Bench-wise, I did make a huge mistake in not playing Elanga (13pts) over Vardy, I think I was looking forward to his party too much if he had scored v Everton.
I activated my Assistant Manager chip as the lure of potentially 5 matches in 3 GWs was too much to ignore, but a last-minute draw affected his overall points to just 15; at least he has another double this week to make up for it. Don’t worry about your rank for this GW and so far this season, with many more chips and exciting, unexpected GWs ahead, there is plenty time to improve.

✅ The Best 2 Transfers IN for Gameweek 25
🇳🇱 Justin Kluivert – Bournemouth (£5.9m, 18%)
After 2 weeks on the differential list, he’s finally made the Transfers In list. Shooting up in value and brought in by over 500,000 managers, including 250,000 this GW, Kluivert is the most transferred-in player currently for GW25. He blanked v Liverpool, but he could and should have had points… It wasn’t the best angle but he missed an open goal! But his form and upcoming fixtures are the reason why managers still continue to invest in the Dutch attacker.
The designated penalty taker can remain in your team for the next 10 fixtures, with Southampton, Wolves, Brighton, Ipswich, and West Ham all to face the inform Cherries, and you can’t say that for many £5.9m midfielders, if any. 11 goals & 4 assists from 19 starts and currently the 4th highest scoring midfielder with 123 points sees Kluivert in high demand. It’s not often a hidden gem appears in FPL, but when it does, make sure you grab it with both hands.
🇧🇷 Gabriel Magalhaes – Arsenal (£7.6m, 27%)
The 1st of an Arsenal duo. Many have taken Gabriel out after losing patience with only 1 clean sheet in 6, but keep the faith! Yes, Arsenal’s normally rock-solid backline performance dipped and he scored many 1 and 2-pointers, but their destruction of Man City shows they are back to their best and have the upcoming fixtures of Leicester and West Ham to push onward to challenge for the title.
At this current low ownership, if he manages to score highly he will boost your rank for sure, and there’s one main reason why I think he’s perfect for the next 2 GWs at least, aerial threat and presence. Amazingly, Gabriel has scored in both his last 2 games v West Ham! He has also scored v Leicester in the past and the way they are playing, he could have a field day in corners and set pieces. All signs point to transferring him in and he’s my first priority, is he yours?
🇨🇲 Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford (£7.9m, 35.5%)
Originally, this slot was for Kai Havertz, oh how the FPL landscape can turn in an instant. Bryan Mbeumo isn’t a bad replacement it has to be said. Fixtures wise he has West Ham, Leicester and Everton, a great run of three games but even though his form hasn’t been the most optimal with only 1 return in the last 4, I foresee him improving within this run.
When we choose players for our side we want players that are capable of hitting big hauls and Mbeumo is that guy. A host of hauls this season of 14, 15, 13 and 19 points proves that he can hit massive scores to help boost our ranks. Another plus to own is that because Brentford are not in European competitions they (and Mbeumo) will be fresh only playing one fixture a week, with a lesser chance of an injury. You can see from the amount of high-profile injuries that they do mount up so it’s worth considering this factor.
Lastly, you require a percentage of your players you trust to leave within your squad for many game weeks and accumulate points and he is just that. As I already own him, I’m glad I made the move early, did you?
❌ The Best 3 Transfers OUT for Gameweek 25
🇨🇴 Luis Diaz – Liverpool (£7.5m, 18%)
Unfortunately, I am listing a player I currently own. With the double game week looming and not being able to afford Trent, I opted for the lesser-owned Luis Diaz; I fell into the trap. Though he has played the majority of minutes, he has blanked in his last 6 matches. Considering in that time Liverpool have scored 13 goals and he hasn’t registered but one assist tells us some vital information, how Slot is using him in his setup.
Diaz is either used as a false 9, full 9 or left midfielder but in each of these instances, his main role is to press, disrupt and do the ‘leg work’ in order for the side to benefit. He has had 3x double-digit hauls so far this season, but his role has since changed and I can’t own a player who is not scoring regularly, even with a few simple assists.
It was a good punt on the surface but now the experiment is over, and you should also look to replace within your side, there are just too many better midfielders with better fixtures and better outputs. I am that certain I may take out even with a double-game week, make sure you also give it some consideration.
⚫ Newcastle Assets (£5.1m – £9.5m, 22-60%)
Slightly different instead of a single player I have suggested you should be moving Newcastle assets out en-masse. Now to caveat this there are better options to hold onto than others but with an extremely hard run of games upcoming for the Magpies, hear me out. Man City, then highflyers Nottingham Forest, then Liverpool are arguably the toughest next 3 fixtures of anyone in the league. Any defenders you own, Hall, Livramento, Schar should be benched or transferred out, I just don’t see a single clean sheet against these teams.
Midfielders Gordon and Murphy should also be moved on, there is just too much competition in that position, with much better fixtures and more chances of scoring elsewhere. Isak is a tough one and I think to keep or transfer out are both fine options, though I don’t see Newcastle winning many of these games I do see them scoring. In terms of highly scoring I am not sure so, if you want to do the Isak to Watkins move, again I don’t think it’s the worst option in the world. If you do want to keep them, ensure you hold them through all 3 fixtures, because after which they have a brilliant run against West Ham, Brentford and Leicester.
🩹 Injuries (£4.8m, 12%)
After what feels like an entirety of waiting for the culmination of GW24, now is a good time to update you on those players who are out due to injury; obviously don’t pick any of these players until they recover fully.
Kai Havertz, Rest of the season
Nicolas Jackson, Late March
Iliman Ndiaye, Not confirmed
Jack Grealish, Not confirmed (expected a few weeks minimum)
Ezri Konsa, Micky Van De Ven, and Manuel Akanji, Doubts for GW25 – beware.
Top Tip – Patience is a virtue. With many managers making early moves before GW24, many had to take hits in order to shape the team they wanted. Often you have to weigh up early transfer moves and ultimately are they worth it. With many more injuries due to the large number of games I would air on the side of caution and make later changes closer to the deadline. This way you can react a lot easier. Sure you might lose £0.1m, but you might save taking a -4 before the GW ever begins!
🦸 Gameweek 25 Captaincy Selections
🇪🇬 Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (£13.7m, 71.5%)
Just incredible! In GW24 he scored a massive 29 points, 58 points if you captained and 87 if you triple captained. Keep in mind these were both away games and up next is yet another double-game week. An easy Wolves at home and a tougher yet still leaky defensive side of Aston Villa away. Genuinely the form Salah is in, he could score even more than GW24, the top captaincy option by far.
Alternative Captain Options
My advice is do NOT go against Salah. But if you are feeling lucky there are still options, just not very popular ones. Kluivert v Southampton, Palmer v Brighton and Mbeumo v West Ham are good options, but if I were to go against Salah I would choose Gabriel v Leicester. With the Foxes being battered by fellow relegation fighters Everton, they have almost given up and Gabriel hasn’t scored in a while.
Top three for me this GW: Salah, Palmer, and Gabriel.
👁️ FPL Veteran’s Vision and Verdict
New GW, new optimism. With my Assistant Manager chip still active I am pretty set as is. Hopefully, Konsa will recover in time for his double game week but if not I will bench for Dalot, it seems a good fixture for him in which to attack. Diaz is close to being removed even with the DGW and I am considering Trossard or Kluivert to replace.
I only have one FT so with only one move it has to be considered carefully because, at this stage of the season, you don’t want to be taking hits if you can help it. Most importantly my chip strategy will shape my transfers moving forward, but don’t worry team I’ll let you know my thinking. Lastly, the GW deadlines are quick turnarounds so make sure you set your team up over the weekend in case you forget… Good luck!
